I figured out what was wrong with the empoleon and why it's wouldn't trade.
Defiant is it's unreleased hidden abilities, apparently they can be genned and transferred through pokebank but are pretty much locked onto the game they are transferred too. Can't be traded or GTS, same thing with contrary serperior and Sheer Force feraligatr
