Staff Online Now

We have this for "Staff" members and for some reason mods aren't part of the staff. For what ever reason that is it doesn't matter, I'm suggesting a "Mods Online Now" Sidebar similar to the one for admins that i pasted above.

This would be very useful for New members to see who they can ask for help considering we have more mods than admins and they seem to be less busy. Mod's sole purpose is to moderate while admins might be doing extra things therefore I think it would be highly beneficial to implement this into the site.

I can't think of any downsides, what do you guys think?

Some members don't know the mods or can't tell if they're online it's simple, easy, and effective to get people the help they need!

I like this idea. I know most of the mods, but I know a lot of people will ask in the SB if any mods are on...definitely helps new members.

Do you know why mods aren't considered staff? It hurts my feelings makes me feel under-appreciated :/

Yeah but the point is most new members won't even know who mods are unless they ask, this way they won't have to xD

I personally think this isn't a terrible idea, sry if my thoughts don't completely match everyone elses... but any question a new member has can be asked in sb and to literally anyone and most shall get their answer, this also may led to some spamming for the mods when ORAS comes out depending on how many people join site at that time however if they don't mind the possible spamming then go for it ( but this may be bothersome to the more busy mods when they are actually online ) , just my two cents

Don't apologize for your opinion lol

Any question they do have can be asked in the SB but mods are hand picked to be knowledgeable on the site and its happenings, etc. So they are probably some of the best aside from admins to answer these due to their experience, insight, etc. Obviously questions can still be asked anywhere like normal but, if a mod has the page open and the pop up chat goes off they'll open the browser and answer where as someone might not be looking at the shoutbox constantly, I wouldn't say spamming since the majority of questions can be answer relatively quickly and when you put in a mod application you're signing up for an influx of questions basically

everytime i see a spambot or an unrelated post in the wrong forum section i think to myself:
"what's the other guy's name that talked to me previously a long time ago?"

Thanks but when you see a spam bot the best thing to do is pm a mod, Don't reply to it or tag anyone for future reference

@RedFalcon94 There is something like that here, it's just exclusive to admins atm

@Dom i know about the admin one but for us regulars it would be great to know which mods are online and who the mods are without having a good chase, I have seen many forums that tell you who mods are and when they are online as well as admins..... That's just what I was going at

I fully support this. While, admittedly, the shoutbox is great for questions, it is often completely dead, meaning that the user may never see the answer to their question. Furthermore, there is only so far you can go with non-mods (or @Matt_192 who is basically a mod without mod privileges at this point), and part of the job of a mod is to know the site inside out to help other users, which means that they are inherently a reliable source of info that the new users can use, so this would be a great way of doing that.
