Trick room is a strategy in doubles based on getting up trick room and using slow, bulky pokemon to abuse it. Trick room only lasts 5 turns so you need to have multiple setters on the team to accomplish your goal. In this guide i will list all possible trick room setters/abusers. I will also list what the perks of using those pokemon and my experience from using them myself. The general rule is pokemon under 80 speed can function under trick room

Trickroom Setters

Let's start this off with the trick room setters as they are the most important members of the team. If trick room is down some sweepers can run priority helping them out while trickroom is down but you generally want to keep trickroom up for almost the entirety of the game

178.png
Xatu: Xatu breaks the speed rule but is one of the few pokemon that can set up trickroom without fearing taunt because of magic bounce. It also has access to u-turn allowing it to switch out into a trickroom abuser.

Prefered moveset :ev's 252 hp 252 spdef 4 spatk.

Trickroom,U-Turn-dazzling gleam, roost Item leftovers, sitrus berry Nature Sassy. Ability magic bounce

579.png
Reuniclus: It acts as a abuser and a setter which is nice but ill but him in this section. Reuniclus is very bulky and has a low speed stat which allows it to survive quite a bit while setting up trickroom and stay in to abuse it for the turns after setting up.

Moveset: ev' hp,96 160 def 252 spatk/172 hp, 28 def,252 spatk, 56 spdef

Prefered moveset: Psyshock/psychic, focus blast,trickroom,protect/shadowball

Item: life orb Nature Quiet. Ability magic guard

080.png
Slowbro: Slowbro deserves a honorable mention because it will be switching kind of often to set up trickroom. It's ability regenerator helps with this by recovering it's hp 33% upon switch out. it also has enough special attack and low enough speed to abuse trick room without any special attack investment.

Moveset: Evs 244 hp,156 spatk, 108 spdef

Prefered moves: Trickroom, scald, Psychic/Psyshock, Protect/icebeam/flamethrower

Items: Mental herb/sitrus berry Nature: Quiet/Sassy/Relaxed Ability Regenerator

609.png
Chandelure: Yet another trickroom setter/ abuser at the same time! If you have any fire weak pokemons such as escavalier you can switch into chandelure and grab a flashfire boost.

Moveset: Spatk 252,HP 252,6 Nature: Quiet. item: Focus sash/Life orb

Prefered moves, Heat wave, shadow ball, protect, Trick room, Ability Flash fire

097.png
Hypno: A personal favorite of mine! Hypno is bulky enough to take any hit and set up trick room. He also has insomnia and inner focus two great abilitys for his role. insomnia prevents smeargles and other spore users from setting up on him. inner focus prevents fake out from preventing trickroom use.

Moveset: Trickroom, Hypnosis/safeguard,Psychic,protect/substitute. ev's: 252 Hp, 196 def,60 spatk : Nature Relaxed. Abilitys: Inner focus,Insomnia Item: mental herb

103.png
Exeggutor: A very strong pick for trickroom setter/abuser. Its low speed high special attack and decent bulk make it a good pick. Harvest adds to this bulk recycling the lum/sitrus berry.

Moveset: Evs, 232 hp, 252 spatk,24 spdef Ability: Harvest Nature: Quiet

Moves: Trickroom,Psychic,Gigadrain/leafstorm,sludge bomb Items: Sitrus berry,Lum berry

199.png
Slowking: Another great bulky trick room setter with regenerator. Functioning similarly to slowbro, he can abuse trickroom while keeping bulkiness.

233.png
Porygon2: It has outrageous defenses and is able to set up trickroom easily, it also has good coverage with it's moves and recover to keep alive.

Moveset: ev's 252 hp,252 def,4 SPdef Ability download Item Eviolite Nature relaxed

Moves: Trickroom,tri-attack,recover,protect

326.png
Grumpig: It functions similarly to hypno but has thick fat and adds resistances that it wouldn't have normally. It also has access to magic coat to bounce back predicted hazards.

Moveset: ev's 252 Def 252 HP 6 SPatk Item mental herb Sitrus berry or lum berry

Ability Thick fat, Nature Relaxed

344.png
Claydol: An interesting pick as it's bulky and support's it's team with trickroom and rapidspin. It's attack isn't the greatest but it has levitate for dodging teamates using earthquake.

Moveset: Ev's Spdef 252,HP 252, Def 6 Item: Mental Herb Lum berry Sitrus berry

Nature: Sassy ability: Levitate Moves: Trickroom Rapid Spin Psychic Protect

356.png
477.png
Dusclops/Dusknoir: These get the same analysis because either can be used the same way. Dusclops can be bulkier because of eviolite but dusknoir can use mental herb or other options. Mainly they are similar but the choice between them is preference based.

Moveset ev's (dusclops): Hp 252,Spdef 252, Def 6 Ev's (dusknoir): Hp 236,Def 36,Spdef 236

Moves: Will-o-wisp,Trickroom,night shade,Helping hand ability Sassy Item Eviolite(dusclops) mental herb/lum berry sitrus berry(dusknoir)

518.png
Musharna: One of the staple trick room pokemon because of it's great bulk access to helping hand and the ability telepathy. A good play you can do with musharna is pair it with a exploud. Have exploud protect 1st turn while you set up trickroom. on the second turn use helping hand on exploud and then have exploud boomburst.

Moveset: Ev's HP 252,Spdef 252, Spatk 6 Ability Telepathy Ability Sassy.

Moves: Helping hand Psychic trick room and protect.

437.png
Bronzong: Although the nerfs to steel hurt bronzong i feel like he can still be one of the better trick room setters. with access to heatproof or levitate they have to guess it's third weakness. it's also very slow with gyroball for damage.

Moveset: Ev's Hp 252,Atk 6, 252 Spdef Ability Levitate/Heatproof Nature:sassy

Moves Trickroom Protect Gyroball Lightscreen/explosion.

576.png
Gothitelle: Gothitelle is a great user of trick room with shadowtag and is semi bulky. It has good special attack as well which let's it hit really hard.

Moveset: Ev's HP 252,Def,96,Spatk 164 Nature: Quiet Ability Shadowtag/Frisk

Item: Mental herb

Jellicent: Jellicent has a great typing water immunity and is a spin blocker. It's also slow enough to abuse trickroom itself. It functions as a great special wall that hit's back hard with waterspout.

Moveset: HP 252,SPatk 252,Spdef6 Item: wacan/sitrus berry Nature: Quiet

Moves: Waterspout/scald,Will-o-wisp/protect, shadowball

563.png
Cofagrigus: Cofagrigus is a great trickroom setter/abuser that can get rid of the oposing physical pokemon's abilitys. It is also a very bulky pokemon with great coverage. It can also boost with nastyplot and sweep when it sets trick room up.

Moveset: Ev's: 252 HP 252 SPdef 4 Def Item: Mental herb/Lum berry Nature: Sassy Ability: Mummy

Moves: Trickroom,Shadowball, Will-o-wisp,Hp Fighting/Protect

606.png
Beheeyem: Beheeyem seems like a normal bulky psychic trick room setter but it set's its self apart from reuniclus/hypno,Ect by the fact that it can use ally switch. It can switch places with it's ally. This could save your sweeper from dying and you could make some amazing plays with this move alone. Beheeyem also has great special attack stat to abuse under trick room. Beheeyem is also another one of the pokemon with telepathy saving it from being killed by it's own team mates spread attacks.

Moveset: ev's 252 hp 204 spdef 52 spatk. Moves: trickroom, Ally switch, Psychic/Psyshock, Protect/shadowball Ability: Telepathy

Item: Mental Herb/Sitrus berry Nature: Quiet

601.png
KlingKlang: A very interesting trick room user since most of the other trick room setters are weak to dark and ghost. This set's it apart from the other trick roomers just based on that point.

Moveset: Ev's 252 hp,252 def,6 atk Item: Mental herb/Sitrus berry Ability: Clear body Nature: Relaxed

Moves: Trick room,toxic,Wild charge,Gear grind

683.png
Aromatisse: One of my new favorite trick room setters as it's hidden ability stops aromatisse and it's team mates from any moves affecting move choices(Taunt,Torment,Attract). It's 30 base speed also helps it just about always move first under trick room. It also has a seperate typing compared to the other ghost and psychic setters which is always nice for typing variety in trick room. It can be a good support for a trick room team.

Moveset: Ev's: 252 hp,252 spdef,6 spatk Nature: Sassy Item Sitrus berry/leftovers Ability:Aroma veil

Moves: Draining kiss,Aromatherapy,Trick room,Protect/Psychic/reflect

531.png
Audino: Another interesting pick as it can wish pass to it's team mates. It also functions as a cleric with heal bell. Healing wish is another really nice support move that can completely heal an allied pokemon upon switch in and cures it from all status ailments. It is also very bulky with only a weakness to fighting. Audino's ability regenerator also helps it set up more trick rooms as it gets healed when it switches out.

Moveset: Evs: Hp 252, Spdef 252, Def 6 Ability: Healer/Regenerator Nature: Sassy Items: Sitrus berry/Chople berry/Mental herb

Moves: Trick room, Heal pulse/Wish, Helping hand/Healing wish/Heal bell, Protect/Safeguard.

711.png
Gourgeist: interesting grass ghost typing which is also shared by trevenant, another trick room setter. When using gourgeist for trick room use a super sized one. This minimizes the speed it has and gives it a little higher attack and HP stat.

Moveset: Def 252, Hp 252, Atk 6 Item mental herb/sitrus berry/lum berry Ability: Insomnia/Frisk Nature: Relaxed Moves: Trick room,Seed Bomb,Explosion/Protect, Phantom force?/ rockslide

709.png
Trevenant: Trevenant is another grass ghost type with low speed and great defenses. These defenses are furthered by the fact it get's harvest for near infinite sitrus berrys/lum berrys. It has access to leech seed for recovery.

Moveset: Hp 252,Def 252,Atk 6 Item Mental herb/sitrus berry/lum berry Ability Harvest Nature Relaxed

Moves: Shadow claw,Trick room,Leech seed/protect,Horn leech

703.png
Carbink: A unique trickroom user in that it has sturdy, this almost guarantees a trickroom. It's gargantuan defenses also help it accomplish its goal. It's attack and special attack are both low as is it's hp stat. It's typing isn't awful as it only has four weaknesses

Moveset: Trick room, Explosion/protect,Moonblast,Rockslide Ev's: 252 def,252 Spdef,6 atk

Nature: Relaxed/Sassy Ability: Sturdy Item: Mental herb/Sitrus berry

Ok so in the first part of the guide, all of the pokemon carried a almost similar niche. The next part of the guide is going to be a bit more fun. The Sweeper pokemon are almost just as important as the setters(the sweepers obviously need the setters for trick room though). Note that im not leaving any pokemon out that would work on trickroom. I believe that if you like a pokemon you should find a way to run it ^.^

Sweepers

068.png
Machamp: Machamp is a great sweeper on trickroom team because of it's ability no guard. It is also slow with a massive attack stat of 130. Machamp can dynamic punch something with 100% accuracy and confuse it, Disrupting the opposing teams pokemon. Machamp also has great coverage options like ice punch and rock slide. Unprepared teams will simply get destroyed by machamp and it will almost always contribute to the game. With access to wide guard it can block incoming earthquakes and other spread moves for the team. With access to a priority move it can function well in and out of trick room.

Move set: Ability: No guard Nature: Brave Ev's: 252 hp,252 Atk,6 Def Item: Sitrus berry

Moves: Dynamic punch,Protect/wide guard/ Ice punch,Stone edge/Bullet punch/rock slide.

028.png
Sandslash: One look at sandslash and you might just think of it as a great defensive wall. It can function well as a trick room attacker because of it's 100 attack stat good health pool good defence stat help it function well. It has the edge quake combo which grant's it coverage and also has access to gyro ball for damage to fairys. It can also be an offensive rapid spinner for the team if needed.

Moveset: Earthquake,Gyroball,Stone edge, Protect Ability: Sand veil Nature: Brave Ev's: 252 hp 252 Atk,6 Def Item: Life orb/Sitrus berry

036.png
Clefable: A wall in previous generations is able to function well in trick room. It has access to magic guard which helps it take no life orb recoil and not be wore down by toxic/burn. It takes no damage from sandstorm/hail and rocks/spikes. Clefable also has amazing coverage in moves such as ice beam thunderbolt flamethrower and moonblast.

Move set: Ability: Magic guard/Competitive Nature: Quiet Ev's: 252 hp, 252 Spatk, 6 def Item: Life orb

Moves: Moonblast,Flamethrower,Protect,Thunderbolt

040.png
Wigglytuff: I feel like wigglytuff could be useful on trick room teams now since it got the special attack buff to 85 this gen. It also got a new toy to use in competitive. It can turn intimidates/stickyweb into a nasty plot and precede to sweep the opposing team with that boost. It's not just situational it still hit's reasonably hard and has an amazing health pool. It's coverage has the boltbeam combo which has near perfect coverage. In this gen i think fairy/fire/electric moves will almost have perfect coverage as well which is why i chose the move set below.

Moveset: Ability: Competitive Nature: Quiet Ev's 252 hp, 252 Spatk 6 def

Moves: Dazzling gleam, Flamethrower, Protect, Thunderbolt.

045.png
Vileplume: Vileplume could function very well under trick room. It's base 50 speed stat makes it one of the fastest pokemon under trickroom. It also recieved a buff in it's special attack in gen VI also putting it up at 110. Now that petal blizzard exists as a spread move you could pair it with a telepathy trick room user and use it with absolutely no downside. It can also learn dazzling gleam(surprisingly) and sludgebomb for coverage vs fairys. You might want a trick room user that can take care of opposing steels for you as you have no coverage vs them.

Moveset: Ability:Effect spore Nature: QuietEv's: 252 hp,252 spatk,6 spdef

Moves: Dazzling gleam, Sludge bomb,Protect,Petal blizzard/giga drain

062.png
Poliwrath: I could see him functioning decently as a trick room physical sweeper. A rest talk set on him could be nice for hazard teams as he has access to circle throw. He can simply toss out threats to the team if he luckily get's it through sleep talk.

Moveset: Ability: Water absorb Nature: Brave/Sassy/Relaxed Ev's (Attacker)252 hp, 252 atk, 6 def (defensive) 252 hp,252 def,6 atk

(specially defensive) 252 hp, 252 spdef,6 atk

Moves: Circle throw,Scald,Rest,Sleeptalk Item: leftovers

076.png
Golem: Golem can function as a trick room attacker if you want it to be. It's defensive stat is a strong 130 while it's attack was buffed up to 120. It get's the Stab edgequake combo which in itself almost has perfect coverage. It also get's heavyslam to hit fairys with. Try pairing it up with something that can soak a grass type attack for it when switching.

Moveset: Ability: Sturdy Nature: Brave Ev's 252 hp, 252 atk,6 def

Moves: Earthquake,Rockslide,Powerup punch/Heavyslam, Protect Item Life orb/leftovers

Muk: You might find muk's placement as a physical sweeper odd since he functions normally as a special wall. Muk has a nice attacking stat of 105, access to powerup punch and great bulk. It has overall good coverage and a low speed stat to function in trick room.

Moveset: Ability: Poison touch Nature: Brave Ev's 252 hp, 252 atk, 6 def.

Moves: Gunk shot/poison jab, Powerup punch,Protect,Rockslide Item Black sludge

099.png
Kingler: Kingler can function pretty well as a trick room attacker, with it's high attack stat of 130 and low speed of 75 it hit's rediculously and goes first usually in trick room. It's hidden ability sheer force gives it even more damage. sheer force also nullifies life orb recoil when a move boosted by it is used which is another good plus.

Moveset: Ability: Sheer force Nature:Brave Ev's 252 hp,252 atk 6 def Item Life orb

Moves: Crabhammer, protect/wide guard, brick break, rock slide

105.png
Marowak: Marowak is a complete monster on trick room teams. With it's signature item thick club that doubles its attack to 160. It's low speed also allows it to function well on trick room teams. It like most pokemon can accomplish the edge quake combo well. It uses bonemerang as a 100 base power single target move, otherwise you could choose earthquake if you have levitating team mates/flying types. It get's lightning rod to draw in lightning attacks from it's team mates weak to electric. I pair him up with a crawdaunt and find nice success.

Moveset: Ability:Lightning rod Nature: Brave Ev's 252 hp, 252 atk, 6 sp def

Moves: Bonemerang/earthquake, Rockslide,protect,power up punch/brick break

Item: thick club

119.png
Seaking: Wierd pick right? It's slow and has a respectable base 92 attack. It's coverage is good with access to megahorn, poison jab and waterfall.

It's also sort of bulky with acess to lightning rod to get rid of it's lightning weakness.

Moveset: Ability: Lightning rod Nature: Brave Ev's 252 atk,252 hp 6 def

moves: Waterfall, protect,Megahorn,Poison jab Item: life orb

160.png
Feraligatr: With proper nature and iv's feraligatr could function under trick room. Feraligatr has good coverage and is able to function in and out of trickroom with aquajet. If his hidden ability was released i would say to run that but for now we just need to stick to torrent.

Moveset: Ability,Torrent Nature: Brave Ev's 252 hp, 252 atk, 6 def

Moves: Aquajet,Waterfall,Ice punch,Protect/crunch Item: Mystic water/life orb

181.png
Ampharos: Ampharos is an amazing trick room sweeper at the moment. With mega ampharos sitting at 165 base special attack and a low base 45 speed it's perfect for the role. Good coverage in dragonpulse thunderbolt. This is one of the few megas that can function perfectly under trick room so it can easily fill a slot for the mega on the team.

Moveset: Ability static/Moldbreaker Nature:Quiet Ev's 252 hp, 252 spatk,6 def\

Moves: Thunderbolt,Dragonpulse,Focusblast,protect/power gem Item: Ampharosite

184.png
Azumarill: Azumarill was granted the fairy type this gem which gave it amazing coverage. With access to huge power doubling it's attack making it hit really hard.It has a low base 50 speed with 100 attack from huge power. It also functions well out of trick room because of access to aqua jet.

Moveset: Ability: Huge power Nature: Brave ev's 252 hp, 252 atk,6 def

Moves: Aqua jet,Playrough,Ice punch, protect Item: Choice band/life orb/ Sitrus berry

185.png
Sudowoodo: I feel like sudowoodo can function under a trick room team with it's nice bulk and high attack stat. It has access to rock head which nullifies recoil from moves such as wood hammer.

With only 30 base speed it will just about always move first under trick room. It also has access to suckerpunch which help's it function out of trickroom when needed.

Moveset: Ability: Rock head Nature: Brave Ev's 252 hp, 252 atk, 6 def

Moves: Wood hammer, suckerpunch, Stone edge, protect Item: Life orb

210.png
Granbull: Granbull has a very slow 45 base speed and a high 120 attack stat make it perfect for a trick room team. With gen VI granting it a fairy typing i feel like that gave it more viability. Play rough will do massive damage to pokemon that don't resist it. It also has access to all of the elemental fangs powerup punch and rock slide making it's coverage great.

Moveset: Ability:Intimidate Nature: Brave Ev's 252 hp, 252 atk 6 def

Moves: Play rough,Fire fang,Rock slide, Protect Item: Life orb

214.png
214-m.png
Mega Heracross: Mega heracross is a very hard hitting pokemon under trick room. It gets rock blast Close combat pin missle and bullet seed for coverage. Skill link allow's these to always hit 5 times doing massive amounts of damage. It's also bulky with a massive 185 attack stat.

Moveset: Ability: Skill link Nature:Brave Ev's 252 hp, 252 atk, 6 def Item: Heracronite

Moves: Rock blast,Pin missle,Close combat, protect

224.png
Octillery: Octillery is an amazing trick room pokemon. It has access to waterspout which trickroom will keep him from taking hit's while using it. It has access to several good coverage moves such as ice beam and energy ball. surprisingly it get's flamethrower too.

Moveset: Ability Sniper Nature: Quiet Ev's 252 hp, 252 atk, 6 sp def Item: Splash plate

Moves: Water spout,ice beam,flamethrower,Protect/energy ball

232.png
Donphan: Donphan has a slow base 50 speed and a massive 120 attack stat. Stone edge is a good move on donphan for coverage. It can combo this with earthquake for good coverage. It can function well out of trickroom with ice shard surprising some dragon types. Sturdy is the best ability for this.

Moveset: Ability: Sturdy Nature: Brave Ev's 252 hp, 252 atk, 6 spdef

Moves: Stone edge, earthquake, protect, ice shard Item: Life orb/ sitrus berry

217.png
Ursaring: This is one of my personal favorite trick room sweepers, with a terrifying base 130 attack and gut's this is very intimidating. For example Facade jumps up to 315 base power when used by ursaring. It also has access to close combat and crunch for coverage.

Moveset: Ability: Guts Nature: Brave Ev's 252 hp, 252 atk, 6 def Item:Toxic orb

Moves: Facade,Crunch,Close Combat,Protect

260.png
Swampert: With a low speed of 60 and good defenses/typing swampert can work well as a trick room sweeper. Swampert has access to hammer arm which raises it's speed under trick room.

Moveset: Ability: Torrent Nature: Brave ev's 252 hp, 252 atk 6 spdef

Moves: Waterfall,Hammer arm,earthquake,protect Item Life orb/sitrus berry

267.png
Beautifly: Beautifly may be frail unlike other trick room sweepers but if you like it it can still get the job done if you want it to. With a nice base attack of 100 and a low speed stat of 65 it can funtion perfectly well under trick room. It has decent coverage with sludge bomb, psychic, bugbuzz and giga drain. You absolutely need a spinner for this team because of it's bug flying typing.

Moveset: Ability: Swarm Nature: Quiet Ev's 252 hp 252 sp atk 6 spdef Item: Life orb

Moves: Bug buzz,Giga drain,sludge bomb/psychic, protect

286.png
Breloom: With a high attack stat of 130 and access to spore. This pokemon functions great in and out of trick room with access to stab mach punch for priority. You can also give it technician to further boost the effectiveness of this move. Another option would be to give it toxic orb, to prevent it from being statused and increase it's lifetime/recovery.

Moveset: Ability: Poison heal/technician Nature: Brave Ev's: 252hp, 252 atk, 6 def Item: Tox orb,Life orb

Moves: Mach punch,Bullet seed/seed bomb,protect,rockslide

295.png
Exploud: This just got a huge buff this gen with access to boom burst. It is a 140 base power normal type move with 100% accuracy. As this hit's your team mate as well you should run telepathy trickroom setters to dodge this(beheeyem, musharna). Musharna is a great partner because it can use helping hand on exploud when it boombursts to further the destructive force. It also gets great coverage in flamethrower and ice beam.

Moveset: Ability: Scrappy Nature:Quiet(ironic) Ev's 252 hp,252 atk, 6 def Item: Life orb

Moves: Boomburst,Flamethrower,Icebeam,Protect/surf

297.png
Hariyama: Hariama is a great bulky fighting type for trick room teams. With a 144 base hp and 120 base attack it hit's really hard and is hard to take out. It has access to fakeout it helps it's team mate set up trickroom easier. It also scares away the dark types that scare hypno and other bulky psychic/ghost type setters. It also get's guts to further boost that 120 attack to even higher levels.

Moveset: Ability:Guts Nature:Brave Ev's 252hp,252atk,6 def Item: Toxic orb

Moves:Close combat,Fakeout,Protect,Knockoff/rockslide

Luxray: Another favorite trick room abusers to use. With a base 120 attack stat and guts this thing hits really hard. Also it's design is amazing. It gets wild charge as a strong stab attack. It's facade doesn't hit nearly as hard as ursarings because ursaring get's stab from it but it still hits hard.
Moveset: Ability:Guts Nature: Brave Ev's 252 Hp,252,6def Item: Flame orb
Moves: Wild Charge,Facade,Crunch,Protect

409.png
Rampardos: Well it's low speed and monstrous 165 attack stat should say enough right? Actually no it get's access to Headsmash. pretty much whatever you hit with this will die just saying. You could band this but that would lessen it's already low lifespan of two turns as it wouldn't move first until trickroom is up. You could also throw rockslide on this for a longer life and a spread move.
Moveset: Ability: Sheer force/moldbreaker Ev's 252hp,252atk,6def Item: Life orb
Moves: Headsmash/rockslide,earthquake,protect,crunch

430.png
Honchcrow: Honchcrow can function in and out of trick room because of it's high base 125 attack and access to sucker punch. Brave bird also hit's for massive damage under trick room. Honchcrow also has the ability moxie which raises it's attack 1 stage when it lands a k.o. If honchcrow can kill a one or two pokemon it may or may not win you the game.
Moveset: Ability:Moxie Nature:Brave Ev's 252hp,252atk,6spdef Item:Life orb/Sitrus berry/Dread plate
Moves: Brave bird,Sucker punch,pursuit,brave bird,protect

442.png
Spiritomb: Spiritomb has great bulk with only one weakness. It's attacking stat isn't bad and Spiritomb also functions well in and out of trick room with access to stab suckerpunch and shadowsneak. Infiltrator also helps hit pokemon through subs this gen which can be annoying as substitutes usually help stall out trickroom turns.
Moveset: Ability: Infiltrator Nature:Brave Ev's 252hp,252 atk,6spdef Item: Dread plate,leftovers
Moves: Sucker punch, Pursuit, Shadow sneak, protect.

450.png
Hippowdon: Hippowdon can hit surprisingly hard and is also useful when building a trick room sand team. Hippowdon also has slackoff for recovery on turns trickroom isn't up. It also has a high health pool a 112 base attack and great defenses. Edgequake grants it good coverage while also getting crunch for covering psychics.
Moveset: Ability:Sand Stream Nature:Brave Ev's 252hp,252atk,6spdef
Moves: Earthquake,Rockslide,crunch,protect/slackoff Item:leftovers/life orb

455.png
Carnivine: Pretty basic trick room attacker but it has levitate to dodge earthquakes from your team mates.
It also hit's hard with access to power whip and crunch as well. Sleep powder can also disrupt opponents.
Moveset: Ability: Levitate Nature: Brave ev's 252hp,252,atk,6spdef Item: Life orb/sitrus berry
Moves:Sleep powder,Power whip, Crunch,Protect

460.png
460-m.png
Abomasnow(mega): Mega abomasnow still retains it's terrible typing... I mean seven weaknesses. It can function well under trick room though. It can also function as the hail setter for hail trickroom teams. You can pair him up with a glaceon who can feel free to spam blizzard with 100% accuracy in hail. you will need a cover for all of the weaknesses ice has to offer though so chandelure would be appreciated(free switch and flash fire boost if predicted) Abomasnow can also use ice shard to function out of trick room.
Moveset: Ability:Snow warning Nature Brave Ev's 252hp,252atk,6def
Moves: Ice shard,Blizzard,Woodhammer,protect/rockslide

464.png
Rhyperior: Rhyperior has a strong attack defensive stats and Stab edgequake and a slow 40 speed stat help it function in trick room. It also has lightning rod to pull electric attacks from water types and flying types. Only problem about pairing him with a water type is his 4x grass weakness.
Moveset: Ability: Lightning rod Nature: Brave Ev's 252atk,252hp,6spdef
Moves: Rockslide,Earthquake,megahorn/poisonjab,protect Item: Leftovers/lifeorb/expert belt/sitrus berry

463.png
Lickylicky: Lickylicky can be a great counter to weather teams because of it's ability cloud nine which nullifies weather effects. It is also slow, bulky with good coverage. Lickilicky gets powerwhip, gyroball and return which are all very strong moves. It's most important feature is however cloud nine.
Moveset: Ability:Cloud nine Nature: Brave Ev's 252hp,252atk,6def Item: Leftovers/lifeorb/sitrus berry
Moves: Power whip,Gyroball,Return,protect/knockoff

462.png
Magnezone: Magnezones high special attack isn't it's only selling point. It also has access to magnet pull. It's basic niche is to trap steel types into it and then use hidden power fire to kill them. It also has flash cannon to k.o rock and fairy types while also having thunderbolt/thunder for water coverage.
Moveset: Ability: Magnet pull Nature:Quiet Ev's 252hp,252spatk,spdef Item: Life orb
Moves: thunderbolt,hidden power fire,flash cannon,protect

465.png
Tangrowth: Tangrowth has great bulk, a amazing ability in regenerator and can perform as either a special or physical sweeper. Access to powerwhip, rockslide, earthquake and poison jab push me towards wanting to run a physical set. If you wanted to run a special set put it at a quiet nature and give it focus blast, giga drain, protect and sludge bomb. Otherwise here is the physical set.
Moveset: Ability: Regenerator Nature:Brave Ev's: 252 hp,252atk,6spdef Item: life orb,expert belt,sitrus berry,leftovers
Moves: Power whip,poison jab,rockslide/earthquake,protect

471.png
Glaceon: Glaceon has a high 130 special atack and a low enough speed to abuse trick room. You could use an abomasnow on the same team for glaceon to abuse hail with spamming blizzard. Glaceon also gets some coverage in the form of shadowball. Also pairing it up with a chandelure may be useful so it can absorb fire attacks.
Moveset: Ability: Ice body Nature: Quiet ev's 252hp,252spatk,6def Item:life orb/leftovers
Moves:Shadowball,Blizzard,Ice beam,protect

475.png
Gallade: Gallade is a great trick room pokemon in the fact that he can set up his own trick room and hit hard directly afterwards. He has shadowsneak to function out of trick room. It has good coverage in night slash, close combat and leaf blade/psycho cut. Steadfast or justified can be used it's just based on preference.
Moveset: Ability: Justified/Steadfast Nature:Brave Ev's 252 hp,252 atk,6def
Moves: Shadow sneak,Psycho cut/close combat, protect,trickroom Item: Mental herb/lifeorb/leftovers

500.png
Emboar: Emboar is another fire fighting type starter (3rd one now :O) It's different then the last two in the fact that he's slow and semi bulky. It's attack stat is high enough to abuse under trick room aswell. His movepool is near barren but it get's the job done.
Moveset: Ability: Blaze Nature:Brave Ev's 252hp,252atk,6 def. Item: Life orb, leftover, flame plate
Moves: Flare blitz,rock slide,superpower,protect

503.png
Samurott: One of the trick room pokemon i use quite a bit(mostly biased because i love his design). Samurott can function as either a physical or special sweeper under trick room. If you run it as a special sweeper you miss out on priority aqua jet but you often surprise people. The physical set has almost the same coverage (special set covers vs flying better)but has access to a priority move to function out of trick room.Run Quiet for special sweeping and change the evs from attack to special attack. Moveset for special samurott is icebeam, hydropump/scald, focusblast and protect
Moveset: Ability:Torrent Nature: Brave Ev's 252hp,252atk,6def Item: Life orb,Splash plate
Moves: Aquajet,razor shell/waterfall,megahorn,protect

526.png
Gigalith: with a base speed of 25 and a high 135 attack stat gigalith will just about always move first in trick room and it will pack quite a punch too. It can also explode if it get's too low/if trick room is about to end. make sure your partner pokemon uses protect for this or is a ghost type. If you run a sand storm trick room team you can put sand force on gigalith for an extra boost to his edge quake combo.
Moveset: Ability: Sand force/sturdy Nature:Brave Ev's 252hp,252atk,6spdef Item Life orb/leftovers/sitrus berry. Moves: Explosion,rockslide,protect,earthquake

Conkeldurr: Guts conkeldurr is very strong on trickroom teams. It's high attack stat good bulk with access to mach punch and drain punch almost make it seem like it was made just for trick room. It also wont be able to be statused because of the ability guts

Moveset: Ability: Guts Nature:Brave Ev's 252 hp 252 atk 6 def

Item: toxic orb/flame orb Moves: Mach punch,hammer arm/drain punch,rockslide,protect

560.png
Scrafty: Another great moxie sweeper in trick room. It has good stab coverage in fighting and dark. Scrafty gets high jump kick for a high power stab move. If the recoil is unappealing you could go with the safer drain punch, which also keeps scrafty alive longer.

Moveset: Ability:Moxie/Intimidate Nature:Brave Ev's 252 hp,252atk,6def Item: Leftovers,Life orb

Moves:Crunch,Drain punch/high jump kick,rock slide,protect

558.png
Crustle, Similar to armaldo but if the attack and defense of armaldo were swapped. This would be able to set up stealthrocks which is a nice niche for a trick room team. It also get's good coverage moves which is another plus. Moveset: Ability: Shell armor Nature:Brave Ev's 252 hp,252atk,6spdef

Moves: Rock slide,X-scizor,protect,poison jab/earthquake Item: life orb/leftovers/sitrus berry

626.png
Bouffalant: Bouffalant is a intimidating pokemon, With reckless as it's ability a high 120 attack stat and access to head charge a 120 base power move with recoil it hits like a truck. With all boosts from life orb,Stab and reckless factored in head charge goes up to a 280 power move. It also has access to pursuit for trapping ghost and psychic types.

Moveset: Ability:Reckless/Sapsipper Nature:Brave ev's 252 hp,252 atk,6 def Item: Life orb

Moves: Head charge,Rock slide,pursuit,protect

623.png
Golurk: About as scary as machamp because of it's no guard dynamic punch. It also gets heavy slam for fairy coverage. Its also bulky which helps it on the turns you try to get trick room back up. If you have any fighting weak pokemon you can also switch golurk in to absorb the attack.

Moveset: Ability: Noguard Nature: Brave Ev's 252 hp,252atk,6def Item: Leftovers/lifeorb

Moves: Dynamic punch,Heavy slam,Protect,Earthquake/rockslide

604.png
Eelektross: Eelektros has access to amazing coverage, great mixed sweeping stats and no weaknesses! Overall a great pokemon because of all of this. It's usually held back by speed but trick room fixes that. It can dodge earthquakes from allies because of it's ability levitate. As of now ill be covering the special set, the physical set is wild charge, brick break protect and rock slide.

Moveset:Ability:Levitate Nature: Quiet Ev's 252 hp,252 spatk,6 sp def Item: Expert belt/life orb

Moves: Flamethrower,Thunderbolt,Gigadrain/Sludgebomb,Protect

589.png
Escavalier: Say hello to the fastest trick room abuser. With a 20 base speed absolutely no other abuser will move faster then it. With a great typing and only one weakness it also has amazing bulk. Escavalier can function as a psychic/ghost trapper with pursuit. Stab mega horn and iron head also hit hard. With it's ability overcoat it is now also completely immune to any powder move such as spore sleep powder and stun spore, this makes it very hard to put it to sleep which would otherwise cripple it.

Moveset: Ability:Overcoat Nature:Brave Ev's 252hp,252atk,6 spdef Item Choiceband/Life orb

Moves: Megahorn,Pursuit,Iron head,poison jab/protect

614.png
Beartic: Theres nothing more intimidating than a 8 foot tall polarbear. Beartic also has access to aqua jet to function out of trick room if needed. It gets coverage with superpower, icicle crash and rock slide. Beartics only problem is lack of a good ability. It gets swift swim which is nice but ruins the point of trick room, it also gets snow cloak which is banned when the evasion clause is present.

Moveset: Ability:Snowcloak Nature:Brave Ev's 252hp,252atk,6def Item:Life orb/Nevermeltice

Moves: icicle crash,superpower,rockslide,protect

621.png
Druddigon: Druddigon has respectable bulk with a high attack stat of 120. It also get's coverage against steel's with fire fang. It has access to the powerful move outrage but if the locking in factor is unappealing you can always use dragon claw. Fire fang and rock slide will do more damage because of sheer force. The only problem is you wont be able to touch many fairys that are not named togekiss in which rockslide will k.o.

Moveset: Ability:Sheer force Nature: Brave Ev's 252hp,252 atk,6spdef Item:Life orb

Moves: Outrage/dragonclaw,Rockslide,Fire fang,Protect

652.png
Chesnaught: Chesnaught has a good defensive stat and a high 107 attack stat. While his typing is the same as breloom and he does not have access to spore i still feel like he should be usable under trick room. With access to hammer arm which makes him faster under trick room. Spiky shield could be used over protect to get damage in on the opponent but note that it doesn't protect him from status. Woodhammer is another powerful move. It's ability bullet proof makes it immune to several moves which is also nice.

Moveset: Ability: Bulletproof Nature:Brave Ev's 252hp,252atk,6def Item: leftovers/sitrus berry/lumberry/lifeorb

Moves: hammer arm,Wood hammer,Rock slide/poison jab,spikysheld,protect

660.png
Diggersby: Diggersby tho! Getting that out of the way diggersby works well because of it's ability huge power. It also gets wild charge despite being the ground type that it is which really surprises some people. A return from this pokemon also hit's hard.

Moveset: Ability: Huge power Nature: Brave Ev's 252 hp,252atk,6spdef Item: Life orb

Moves: wild charge,Earthquake,Return,protect

675.png
Pangoro: One of my new favorite trick room abusers because of its amazing synergy with xatu and any trick room setter imaginable. At the last turn that trick room is up you can parting shot out and switch to a switch room setter. If you use xatu with it xatu can set trick room and u-turn back out to pangoro. Pangoro also has access to hammer arm which speeds him in trick room and does massive amounts of damage since it's boosted by iron fist.

Moveset: Ability:Ironfist Nature: Brave Ev's 252hp,252atk,6def Item Life orb/sitrus berry

Moves: Parting shot,Crunch,Hammer arm,protect

673.png
Gogoat: A very useful trick room abuser. It has milk drink if you wanted to keep him alive longer, although horn leech does this as well. You can choose to use leech seed as well to force a switch. It also has the ability sap sipper which can help absorb grass type attacks for the team and grant you a 50% boost in attack.

Moveset: Ability: Sap sipper Nature: Brave Ev's 252hp,252atk,6def Item:Leftovers/Weakness policy

Moves:Horn leech,Rockslide,earthquake,protect

681.png
Aegislash: One of the really strong trickroom abusers from this gen. It's massive 150 attack stat(in sword form) and amazing 150 defenses (shield form) with kings shield to have a chance to lower the opponents attack. Aegislash can be played as a set up sweeper or mixed sweeper. It gets shadow sneak to function out of trick room as well.

Moveset: Ability:Stance change Nature:Brave Ev's 252hp,252,def/spatk/atk,6 def/spdef Item spooky plate/life orb Moves: Shadow sneak,Iron head,Sacred sword/shadow ball,Kings shield.

687.png
Malamar: Malamar is very interesting. It has access to contrary and superpower so every time it uses it it gets +1 in atk and def. This makes it very bulky after a few turns. Try to keep him away from any bug moves as they will kill him. He also has psycho cut and night slash for stab. He is also effective vs aegislash with kings shield giving you a free +2

Moveset: Ability:Contrary Nature:Brave Ev's:252 hp,252atk,6spdef Item: Leftovers,fist plate,life orb

Moves: Protect,Superpower,Night slash,Psycho cut

689.png
Barbaracle: Yeah the non mega pokemon with access to tough claws. This ability hurts,it boosts all physical contact moves by 30%. With a life orb this brings razor shell up to 190 base power. It has a vast movepool with a lot of moves to choose from as well. Barbaricle also has very respectable defenses which helps it live a lot longer.

Moveset: Ability: Tough claws Nature: Brave Ev's 252hp,252atk,6spdef Item: life orb

Moves: Razor shell,Cross chop/nightslash,Stone edge,protect

Clawitzer: Mega launcher is a scary ability simply put it gives stab to any aura and pulse move. Clawitzer learns all of them. Water pulse turns into a 120 power move like hydro pump( a little weaker cause stab)

Aurasphere, dragon pulse and dark pulse all get boosted. I like running flash cannon instead of dragon pulse to cover against fairies( Saved me several times). Not many people know this but heal pulse is also boosted by mega launcher. This makes it heal your ally for 75% of their maximum health instead of just 50. You could run him as sort of a support which always helps.

Moves: Ability: Mega launcher Nature: Quiet ev's 252 hp,252spatk,6 spdef Item: Expert belt/life orb/sitrus berry Moves: Water pulse,Dark pulse,Aura sphere,Dragon pulse/heal pulse/flashcannon/ice beam

697.png
Tyrantrum: This pokemon has a very high attack stat a mid grade speed and access to strong jaw which gives a 50% boost to biting moves. Tyrantrum has access to all of the elemental fangs including poison fang from breeding. If it's hidden ability was released it would have access to rock head with head smash nullifying the recoil.

Moveset: Ability: strong jaw Nature: Brave Ev's 252 hp,252 atk,6spdef Item: Expert belt/life orb

Moves: fire fang,Stone edge/rock slide, Dragon claw/ice fang/poison fang/thunder fang,Protect

699.png
Aurorus: Aurorus is an interesting pokemon with the ability refrigerate, which takes normal moves boosts the power by 30% and then turns it into an ice move and that further boosts it by 50%(Stab). With life orb boost round turns into a 150 power move.

Moveset: Ability: Refrigerate Nature:Quiet Ev's 252hp,252spatk,6def Item:Life orb

Moves:Nature power,Flashcannon/freeze dry,ancientpower,protect

That sums up all of the trick room sweepers.

Weather trick room teams are possible, you just need to give politoed or ninetails a iron ball which halves their speed.

If you have any comments questions or concerns please reply. I will help build a trick room team and i will also be selling some trick room pokemon in the future. Contact me by pm if you have any requests.
