Images in signatures - Disabled? - Your Thoughts

@ToY and I were thinking about disabling images in all user signature. But like anything else major we do, we'll like to get a feel of where the community stands on this.

Do you feel as if images in user signature, especially animated gifs or large images, take away from your user experience?

I like the idea of image signitures as they give the user personalization but i've been seeing a lot of the large gifs lately. I don't think they overall take away from my user experience though.

There's nothing wrong with a banner or small pic, but the larger the pics or animated gifs can cause those with slower internet connections to have issues browsing the site (on top of just being terribly annoying).
