I am planning to buy a handful of pokemon on this forum. The only thing that is making me a bit apprehensive is the source and verification of the source of these perfect pokemon.

Are they obtained in very legit ways? or are there hacks involved to get these perfect pokemon?

and also, how can I find out if I a pokemon I bought or planning to buy has been or has not been generated by some hack or some gameshark like device?

Thanks in advance!

Well, there are a lot of Pokemon that are not legit, although there are still some that sell legit Pokemons. For the most part, people say weather the Pokemon that they're selling is legit or not on their thread, and if they don't specify then you could always ask them.

For the most part, you can tell weather a Pokemon is generated is to check weather it's Kalos bred or not, if it is then it wasn't gennerated by any kind of cheating device as it's only possible to use these for gen 5 games, although this isn't a sure fire way to check weather a Pokemon is legit or not because it is still possible to hack gen 6 games in order to make Pokemons shiny, or change there IVs, EVs, nature and so on, so the best solution would be to buy from a well known seller who would be honest about weather a Pokemon is legit or not. If you have any more questions feel free to ask. :)

I guess my next question is who are some trusted sellers of non hacked/altered pokemon? I've read a bunch of sellers but I don't remember anyone of them mentioning anything about that...

None, there are many trusted sellers here but no one is selling non hacked/altered Pokemon. All of the Pokemon here are altered, yes even cloning Pokemon is altering them as you used a device not intended by the game after all. But even though they are altered/cloned, all of them can be used like a normal Pokemon in the game. Even Nintendo won't notice a thing, at least in what I'm selling. If there are pure legitimate Pokemon here, it won't just cost you $3, probably around $500 since getting an uncloned perfect shiny Pokemon is like winning in the lottery after all.

The thing you have to remember is that pokemon are code, a computer program expected to opperate in a certain way. Whenever there is something that goes against its designed function, Nintendo will pick up on it. But, as long as the program is indistinguishable from the rest, then there is no problem. Nintendo can't tell if a pokemon is genned or not if it looks and acts as the pokemon is supposed to.
