Is vocanion immune to water?

So Bulbapedia says Volcanion is immune to water, my friend just got one and said it got hit by surf, is this possible? Or is Volcanion really water immune?

It gets Water Absorb, so as long as the opponent does not have an ability suppressing ability (Mold Breaker, Turboblaze, Turbo[zekrom's one]) then water will do nothing to Volcanion.

Water absorb is the ability that heals your Pokemon with a water attack. I bring in double battles volcanion and kyogre. My kyogre uses surf and I heal up my volcanion!
