Tales of the Abyss was originally released for the Playstation 2 system but in November 2011 Tales of the Abyss was released for the 3Ds in North America and February 2012 in Europe. Tales of the Abyss' battle system is the Flex Range Linear Motion Battle System (FR-LMBS). The game is so complex that it cannot be beaten in a day or a week non-stop. Luke fon Fabre is nobleman in the Kingdom of Kimlasca, however he has few problems, he has no memory of his past since his kidnapping and he is forbidden to leave the manor. It just an ordinary day training with his swordmaster, Van Grants (Master Van as Luke calls him), until an intruder tries to assassinate Van. Luke interferes and blocks the attacker's strike but something is up and they get blasted away, only to wind up in Tartaroo Valley in Malkuth Terrority. The assassin reveals herself as Tear, a melodist and healer, and explains that she and Luke caused a Hyperresonance. They try to find a way out of the Valley and back to Kimlasca's capital, Batical. However they soon realize they aren't headed to Batical but deeper into Malkuth Terrority (Since they observed a Malkuth Dreadnought, the Tartarus, chase a group of bandits away from Malkuth). And the duo's adventure begins in the small town called Engeve.

"What's a Fon Master Ion?" -- Luke fon Fabre

After the initial scene, you'll be in control of Luke in his bedroom (you'll
be in control of him 95% or so of the game). Try exiting and Luke has a mini
headache. Whatever. Once outside at the courtyard, talk to Pere right next to
the stairs and he'll let you know about Luke's condition (about not being able
to leave the manor). Anyway, go to the E side of the courtyard and enter the
door there.

In here, go S to reach the entrance. In here, talk to the butler (dressed in
red) named Ramdas, to hear that Luke's sword master, Van Grants, is coming.
Anyway, try returning to the previous room and Ramdas will tell you to stop
talking to Pere (screw you, Ramdas). Anyway, return to the hall, go N and enter
the door. Now go in the W door (Guy and Pere's Room) and check the E cabinet to
get 'Apple Gel'. Exit this room and enter the E one. Same as before, check the
E cabinet to get 'Lemon Gel'. Return to Luke's room to trigger another scene,
in which you're introduced to Guy, one of the best characters I've ever played
with in the "Tales of" series.

You now need to go to the Drawing Room. To get there, go to the courtyard and
instead of going in the E door, go in the W one and in the hall, go S and enter
the Drawing Room to trigger yet another scene in which you're introduced to
Van, Luke's teacher. After the scene, return to the hall (enter the NW door)
and go all the way N and enter Duke and Madam Fabre's Chamber.

In here, check the cabinet to the E and get '100 Gald'. Return now to the
courtyard to trigger another scene in which you see somebody attacking the
manor. Anyway, follow the instructions in battle and the scene continues.
you'll be transported automatically to a valley called Tataroo Valley.

"It's about time. I'm sick of this place." -- Luke fon Fabre

The scene from Baticul continues here and at the end, Tear joins the party.
When you regain control, just walk S a bit to trigger yet another scene in
which you'll be attacked by monsters. Finish them off and proceed, save your
game and continue until you get to the river. From the fork here, go SW and at
the next fork, go NW and get 'Apple Gel'. Now go SW from the previous fork to
get 'Orange Gel'. Return to the riverside and proceed S to reach another area.

Go S to trigger another scene and you'll be attacked by 2 enemies. When you
regain control, you'll be at a 4-way fork (there's 1 hidden path to the SE),
follow it to get 'Cape'. Return to the fork and go E this time to get '300
Gald' and 'Life Bottle'. Return to the fork and go SW now, and proceed to the
next area, but not before watching a scene.

Afterwards, save the game and get '400 Gald' from the chest on top of the Save
Point. Anyway, when you're ready, talk to the Coachman and depart. After the
scene and Luke's funny faces, and when you're asked to whether walk to Engeve
and have the Coachman take you there, pick to walk there so that we can gain
some more XP.

At the World Map, simply follow the path E and when you come to a fork, go E
across a bridge to trigger a scene in which you receive your first recipe, the
"Rice Ball". Keep following the path E and when you come to another fork (with
a sign), follow the path NE to reach Engeve. Enter it.

"Are you calling me a thief?" -- Luke fon Fabre

There's a scene as you enter. Afterwards, go N to trigger a scene with Luke
"stealing". Hahaha, jerk. Anyway, from this fork, go W and across the bridge to
enter the next area. From the fork ahead, go W and enter the only house you
come across. In here, talk to the woman cooking and she'll ask you to go get
some Miso for her. Time to get some!

Exit the house and go S, then E and when you reach a Save Point, then enter
the house with pigs right next to it. Inside, talk to the old lady to your
right. She'll give you some miso, so return to the cooking woman and give her
the miso. As thanks, she'll give you the recipe "Spaghetti", 'Engeve Noodles'
and 'Milk'.

Exit this house, go to where the Save Point is and go E across the bridge to
get to the first area. Here, approach the multitude outside the Inn to trigger
a scene (Tear is mean to Luke, isn't she?) in which you're introduced to
Colonel Jade Curtiss and Fon Master Ion (remember Luke's phrase at Baticul
What's a Fon Master Ion? Well, he IS that Ion).

When you regain control, return to the Inn (where the people start accusing
Luke). There's another scene in here. Afterwards, talk to the guy in blue and
buy any upgrade you need. For Luke buy: 1 Cutlass, 1 Leather Mail and 1
Bracelet. For Tear buy: 1 Wand and 1 Iron Guard. Sell all old equipment. Talk
to Kelly, the Inn's owner and spend the night.

Afterwards, you need to go to the Cheagle Woods, so exit the Inn, and talk to
the person Luke was going to steal an apple from. He'll ask you a favor that
you need to do at the Cheagle Woods. Ok, from this fork, go N and enter the
house at the end. In here, get 'Life Bottle'. Now exit Engeve.

At the World Map, go directly N to find rings of light coming out of the
ground. These places are known as Search Points (SP), which give random items
to you. From here, go directly W, up a small hill and at the top, look directly
N to see a huge tree. Go there, that's Cheagle Woods.

"Oh, shut up! It's fine for this little freak!" -- Luke fon Fabre

As you enter, a scene triggers in which Ion is being attacked by some monsters
and he ends up killing them in such an awesome way. During the scene, Tear
receives the title "Van's Sister". Ok now, you start at a fork. Go N and open
the chest (actually a rock box, but who cares) to find that person's 'Secret
Box'.

Return to the fork and go E this time, cross the river just to reach another
fork. Go S and then S again and follow that path to get 'Apple Gel'. Return to
the fork just across the river and go N this time to reach yet another fork,
which you should take N to reach another area. There's a scene as you enter.
Follow the path to reach another fork. Go W to reach another area and a scene
triggers.

Now go up the path and instead of going W and inside the Cheagle's Nesting
Area, go E, follow the path behind the tree to get to the first area. Follow
the path and when you get to a fork, go E to get 'Orange Gel' and then W to get
'500 Gald'. Return to the fork in the previous screen and go W this time. Now
check the apples on the floor to trigger a scene with a lot of Cheagles. You'll
obtain the 'Sorcerer's Ring' at the end of the scene.

When you regain control..

<vin> Christopher Alarcon wrote: inside of the tree where you meet the
Cheagle Elder, if you stay to the right of the tree when you enter,
there's a ramp that takes you to a fork with exits to the east and
west. The east exit leads to a treasure chest with 200 Gald .

... talk to the Cheagle Elder and rest. Now save your game and exit the tree.
Another scene triggers outside. Now, return to the first area (where the river
is) and from the first fork you come across, go E then E at the next fork to
get
to another area. Once here, burn up all the ivy blocking your path and get 'S
Flag' (you can change the displayed party member with this). Now is a good time
to return to Engeve to give that man his Secret Box to receive 'Collector's
Book'.

Return to the first area of Cheagle Woods and go all the way N to reach the
second area. From the first fork, go E to trigger a scene. Burn up the ivy
surrounding the tree to have the scene continue. Afterwards, cross the fallen
tree and follow the path to the next area.

A scene triggers as soon as you start walking and you'll receive your first
Capacity Core, and from here on, (CC). Anyway, continue to get to a fork, which
you should follow N, burning the ivy from the tree to make a bridge. Cross it
to reach another fork. Go W and get 'Magic Lens', then go N and enter the
cavern.

In here, follow the path and before turning left to go down, check for a chest
stuck in between tree roots. Use Mieu Fire to burn the roots, keep going down
and at the fork go W to get 'Orange Gel'. Now keep following the path and
you'll be shown a green Save Point, which heals completely you HP and TP. Save
your game and proceed N getting 'Life Bottle' in the way to trigger a scene and
then your very first Boss Battle.

BOSS: LIGER QUEEN
-----------------

- Name: Liger Queen
- Location: Cheagle Woods
- HP: 10,200 / 15,300 / 20,400 / 35,700
- XP: 175
- P.ATK: 76 / 114 / 152 / 266
- P.DEF: 83 / 124 / 166 / 290
- F.ATK: 72 / 108 / 144 / 252
- F.DEF: 80 / 120 / 160 / 280
- Gald: 1,000
- Items dropped: Life Bottle, Sage
- Steal: None
- Elemental Info.:
- Weak: None
- Strong: Earth, Wind

- Strategy: There really isn't much to say about this battle. She may have a
lot of HP, but you don't need to damage her that much. Just attack her normally
(3 attacks + Fang Blade) and you'll be dealing 190+ dmg. plus Tear's Nightmare
will deal some more dmg. After every combo, start Free Running around, avoiding
her attacks, then attacking again. After taking 25-50% of its HP, the amazingly
strong Jade Curtiss shows in the battlefield to kick the Queen's ass. He has
Blessed Drops, which rocks and might kill her with just one of those.

-----------------

After the battle, there's a scene introducing the little girl you met at the
Inn in Engeve, Anise. Just to let you know, Jade is the clown in the group and
you'll be laughing your ass off almost every time he opens his mouth. Have you
noticed Luke being a son of a b**** with Mieu? Well, get used to it, because
he's gonna treat Mieu like this the whole chapter >3. Also Jade joins the
party, but just for a short while.

From where you regain control, get 'Life Bottle' and 'Cutlass' from the
chests. Now, try leaving and Luke finds 'Technical Ring', very neat. Now use
the Save Point and go to the Cheagle's Nesting Area. A scene triggers as you
enter, and the Cheagle Elder "gives you" Mieu for 1 year (1 cycle of seasons is
1 year, right?). After the scene, try leaving the forest to have Jade capture
you and be his prisoners, god dammit!

"I... I stabbed him... I... killed him..." -- Luke fon Fabre

After the scene (is Anise really falling in love with Luke? Or his money?),
save your game. Speak to Anise and she'll join your party. Now exit this room,
go N, enter the second door to your left and get 'Apple Gel'. Now exit this
room and go N and up the stairs. Once outside, talk to Ion and Jade. Now return
to the room where Luke and Tear were held captive and talk to the soldier there
to trigger a scene.

After the scene, speak to Ion twice and then exit the room. At the hall, speak
to Jade just N of you to trigger yet another scene. Was Jade a Necromancer?
Cool... ahm, anyway, you're introduced to 1 of the Six God-Generals; Largo, the
Black Lion (he's one of the 7 main enemies). Jade also receives the title
"Necromancer". Pretty nice scene, by the way.

When you regain control, go up the stairs and then up the next set of stairs.
Up here, go to the other side to trigger a scene in which Luke is left behind.
Now you have to kill an Oracle Knight. Piece of cake. Just attack him 3 times
to have the scene continue. You'll be introduced to 3 other members of the Six
God- Generals, Asch the Bloody (the red-haired guy), Legretta the Quick (the
blonde chick) and Arietta the Wild (the pink-haired girl).

When you regain control, go S all the way to the end to find 2 doors. Go in
the left one and you'll see 3 chests behind some crates. Move the crates (it's
fairly easy and you shouldn't need any help) to get 'Styl', '1,200 Gald' and
'Life Bottle'. Now exit this room and enter the middle right one. Open the
chest in here to get your equipment back. Now equip Luke that Capacity Core,
Styl, we found a while ago.

Return to the hall and enter the lower right door to trigger a scene. Now move
the 2 middle boxes N, then move the SE one N to trigger a scene. Now, before
leaving, get 'Long Sword' from the chest, then exit the room. Once outside, go
up the ladders to reach the Tartarus' Deck. From here, go to the E (where the
huge ladder is) and enter the door to trigger yet another scene. Remember Guy
at Baticul? Luke's friend? Well, he's here to the rescue (isn't he cool?). We
now need to head to St. Binah.

=~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~=

You'll be at the World Map when you regain control, so, to get to St. Binah,
remember this fork? The one we took to get to Engeve? You'll be left at that
fork. So just follow the road SE to trigger a hilarious scene in which you're
shown Guy's phobia, women. You'll have to fight Oracle Knights (3 total), then
the scene continues. Luke receives the title "Frightful One".

You'll be at a Camping Spot afterwards. Here, speak to everyone, but let Tear
for last. Now speak to Mieu and go to sleep. The scene continues and you'll
regain control. Now just go SE and enter St. Binah.

"Hmm? She's already got you whipped, huh, Luke?
Princess Natalia's going to be jealous." -- Guy Cecil

A scene triggers as soon as you enter. Once you enter St. Binah, talk to the
man near the stores to buy some equipment. Buy a Rapier for both Luke and Guy,
a Mace for Tear and a Glaive for Jade. Also buy any Armor you can afford. Now
talk to the little kid at the E side just to know a little more about Jade. Now
go E and on to the next area of town.

Follow the brick road and enter the first house to your left. In here, check
the green notebook on the floor to get the recipe "Sandwich". Now return to
where you spoke to the little kid and try entering the building just N of him
(with 2 guards outside). A scene triggers in here and your next destination is
Kaitzur. You'll also obtain 'World Map'.

With all this done, exit this building and try leaving town to trigger a scene
with the God-Generals, introducing this time Sync the Tempest (green-haired
dude) and Dist the Reaper or "the Rose" (the most "manly" of all six).
Afterwards, head to the Inn and spend the night there. Before anything, spend
the night again to trigger a scene between Luke and Guy, in which you learn
"Sonic Thrust". Now just exit St. Binah.

=~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~=

We have to cross Fubras River in order to get to Kaitzur. So, to get there,
simply follow the road S and when you see that it starts curving SE, ignore the
path and start going SW to reach Fubras River (it's in-between 2 mountain
ranges and the entrance looks like a lot of stone pillars sticking out of the
ground).

"H-hey, don't treat me like an idiot." -- Luke fon Fabre

At the entrance, go W and use Mieu Fire on the vines covering the chest to get
'Apple Gel'. Now go S to trigger a scene in which you're thought how to use
Field of Fonons (FoF). See my special section to know more about that. Pretty
cool, huh?! Thought so. Anyway, from where you're left, go E and burn the vines
covering the chest to get 'Magic Lens'. Now go S and get '500 Gald' from the
chest you come across. Now proceed W a little bit, then go S to get to another
area.

From the entrance, move S to reach a fork. Take the W path to get 'Apple Gel'
from the chest. Now go down the E path to reach a large grassy area with a save
point. Save your game and proceed N from the save point and then to another
area to get 'Iron Mail' from the W chest. Return to the save point and follow
the SE rocky path all the way to the E to find a chest with '800 Gald'.

There are 2 exits out of this area, the SE one and the SW one. Exit through
the SW one just to find a chest with 'Bracelet' in it. Return to the save
point, save your game and exit through the SE exit. Walk a little bit S to
trigger a scene with Arietta ambushing you. We just killed her mommy, the Liger
Queen. Yep, that's right, the Liger Queen. And now she wants revenge. Tear also
learns the Fonic Hymn "Force Field".

Now from here, go E and burn the vines covering the chest to get 'Orange Gel'.
Now just hug to the wall S of the chest to get to another chest covered with
vines. Open it to get 'Life Bottle'. Now go N, following the path, getting
'1,600 Gald' in the way and at the end, exit Fubras River.

=~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~=

At the World Map, go directly SW. A scene triggers before reaching Kaitzur.
Afterwards, enter Kaitzur.

Once you enter, enter the Inn/Shop and rest. Afterwards, exit the building and
go S to trigger a scene with Asch the Bloody (creepy name) and Van. At the end
of the scene, Anise joins the party. When ready, go to the Inn and talk to Van.
Another scene triggers in here. Van hands over 'Passport', so the party can
cross the border.

Exit now the Inn and go S to use the Passports. At the other side of the
border (Kimlasca area), a scene triggers. Afterwards, go E and enter the Inn.
Buy from the item shop: 1 Broad Sword for each Luke and Guy, a Magic Wand for
Tear/Anise and Guisarme for Jade. As for armor, buy anything you can afford.
Now just exit Kaitzur to the S.

=~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~=

Once at the World Map, to get to Kaitzur Naval Port, simply follow the road S
and when you get to a fork, go W and then S at the next one. Enter Kaitzur
Naval Port.

There's a scene as you enter. Arietta "Gloomietta" is attacking the port. Just
go to the harbor down below to trigger a scene. Arietta demands that Luke and
Ion must go to Choral Castle in order to save the engineer who is the only one
that can repair the ship. Dammit! Now go to the Inn (it's just a little bit N
of your current position) to rest, then try exiting to trigger another scene.

=~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~=

At the World Map, follow the dirt road and at the fork, start following it E
and when it ends, look E and go that direction until you arrive at Choral
Castle (man, that was short).

"My, my. There they go. Impetuous little things, aren't they?" -- Jade Curtiss

After the initial scene, approach the entrance, but before entering, go E and
follow the path until you get to a chest with 'Sage' in it, now enter the
castle. Walk a little bit to trigger a scene that teaches you about surprise
encounters (when enemies touch you from behind and the shattered screen turn
red instead of white), that's pretty f***ed up, don't you think?

Afterwards, you'll see a puppet-like enemy with a glowing red orb cross in
front of you. We'll get to him later. Now go up the stairs to the E (if you go
in the door next to the save point, you'll only find a door with a purple-
colored orb, but we'll get to that) and go all the way S to exit this room.
Outside, keep following the path until you see two statues. Move them so that
the monster with the red orb doesn't run away (yes, one next to another).

Now enter the left door and come back out to have the ghost trapped. Dispose
of it to obtain a red orb. Now return to the room to the left and go down the
stairs to get 'Life Bottle'. Now go up 1 set of stairs (where the door you used
to come in is) and go S. Ignore at all cost the monster with the yellow orb,
and if you come in battle with it, escape. YES! Escape, why? Because I say so.

In this tiny room, check the NE corner (behind the crates) to find 'Life
Bottle'. Now go S out of this room to find a lone chest with 'Apple Gel' in it.
Return to the room with the stairs and go up 1 set of stairs, use Mieu Fire on
the monster with the blue orb to freeze it. Now engage him and obtain a blue
orb.

Now go up another set of stairs and enter the E door to get '1,000 Gald'
from the chest. Return to the previous room and go up another set of stairs to
find a W door. Enter it to get 'Chain Mail'. Equip it to the character with the
lowest P. DEF (probably Guy). Return to the stairs room and finally go to the
top.

Once outside, enter the room a little further ahead and get 'Silk Robe' and
once again, ignore the monster with the green orb. Finally return to the save
point and enter the door I mentioned previously (where the door with the purple
orb is). Examine the door to have the red and blue orbs you got turn purple
ending with the door open.

On the other room, go down the stairs and approach the machine to the N to
trigger a scene. OMG, what the f*** happened to Guy? You must continue to find
out. Exit this room through the E exit (there's nothing down the stairs) and
enter another tower, just like the previous one we were in. Go up the stairs to
find a healing save point. Save your game, go up the stairs and enter a door to
the W when have a chance. Now get 'Shakujo' and equip it to Tear. Return to the
tower, go up 1 set of stairs and enter the E door to get '1,600 Gald'.

Return to the tower and approach the stairs going up to trigger a scene. Luke
has been captured by the God-Generals. Damn them. They indeed did something to
Luke. By the way, isn't Guy awesome? You'll obtain 'Fonic Disc' at the end. Now
return to the roof, saving before coming, to trigger a scene and then a Boss
Battle with Arietta.

- Strategy: First of all, focus all of your attacks on Arietta, because she's
the magic user of the group. Beware, though that she and Liger can enter
Overlimit. When she does that, Free Run around the field or try attacking Liger
until her Overlimit wears off. She has spells like Limited and Negative Gale.
If these leave a FoF, use them, you can use Water FoF and Earth FoF when you
see a Darkness FoF; just like Fire FoF and Wind FoF with a Light FoF. Once
she's down, I really recommend taking Liger out, since he's the fastest of the
group and has an attack similar to Lightning Tiger Blade. Once Liger is down,
take down that bird (what a strange name). It may be a tough battle, but I did
just fine with a party of Luke 12, Tear 12, Jade 12 and Guy 12.

You'll receive 760 XP, 1,300 Gald and, Savory and Apple Gel.

-----------------------------

Watch the scene after the battle and choose the walk back. Return now to the
main hall to see a sword in middle of the room. Save your game and enter a
battle with Sword Dancer #1, although he's optional.

------------------------------
OPTIONAL BOSS: SWORD DANCER #1
------------------------------

- Name: Sword Dancer #1
- Location: Choral Castle

- Gald: 1,000
- Items dropped: None
- Steal: None
- Elemental Info.:
- Weak: Physical
- Strong: None

- Strategy: Ok now, a lot of people say that Sword Dancer #1 is hard, and they
may be right. Each of his attacks will deal 150-230 dmg. but can easily be
healed with an Apple Gel. Also turn off Jade's Strike Artes and only leave him
with Splash. Approach him as much as you can and guard until you see an
opportunity to attack. Your attacks, along with Guy's and Jade's magic will
take him down in no time. Also use all the Apple Gels and Life Bottles you need
(I only used 3 Apple Gels and 5 Life Bottles). Each of your attacks will deal
150-200 dmg. to him, so he'll go down fairly quickly (my battle lasted 1 minute
and 50 seconds).

------------------------------

If you just can't beat him, leave and I'll tell you when to come again.
Anyway, now leave Choral Castle and head to Kaitzur Naval Port.

"Right now, I'm still a kid, but... I love you, Luke!" -- Anise Tatlin

After the initial scene, enter the Kimlasca Base which is the building to the
far SE. In here, speak to Van to trigger a scene. Now head to the dock (to the
S) and speak to the soldier there. Leave and board the Katsbert Ferry.

I'll put both areas in the same section, because there's no case in separating
them. Once you regain control, try exiting the room to trigger a scene in which
Luke gets a headache (just like the beginning of the game). Once at the
hallway, enter the door above you and speak to Guy just for fun. Return to the
hallway and go up the stairs to the N.

In this little room, check the NE corner for a hidden chest with 'Orange Gel'
in it. Go up the stairs to the W and get 'Iron Bracelet' from the chest. Now
speak to Jade. Return downstairs, enter the N door and speak to Ion and Anise
there. Afterwards, go E and speak with Tear. Now continue along the way and
Luke will get another headache. After the scene, you'll arrive at Chesedonia.

"With my ultra super hyper high-grade fonic technology,
I'll flay that conniving, long-haired, four-eyed--" -- Dist the Reaper

When you gain control (the building to the W is Din's Shop, for more info,
check Hikari62's in-depth FAQ), go S to trigger a scene with Noir, a female
bandit and member of the Dark Wings, York and Urushi are also members. After
the scene, go W and speak to the man by the medicine shop. He's the Coachman
that gave you a ride back at Tataroo Valley. He sold Tear's Jewel, and we want
it back.

After that, go S and go to the next area. There's nothing to do here right
now, so just go S to another area. At the entrance, locate the Armor Merchant
sitting on a white carpet right next to you. The building in front of him is
the Inn. Now go IN-BETWEEN them to find a rare looking fellow known by the name
of "Ant Lion Man". Give him an Apple Gel and he'll give you the "Fried
Chicken" recipe.

Now locate the Weapon Merchant sitting on a red carpet just S of the merchant
sitting on the white carpet. Next to this shop (in a wooden structure) is
another merchant. Speak to him and he'll give you either Food or Items. Select
items (which are better) and he'll give you 2 Apple Gels and 2 Poison Bottles
(he'll give you 3 beef, 3 chicken and 3 rice if you chose Food). Neat. To the E
is an Armor Shop called Bellicoso. Buy any upgrades you need and return to the
area where I told you before that there was nothing to do.

Once here, go W and enter Astor's Mansion. Once inside, a scene triggers
(Astor is kinda creepy...). When you regain control, enter Astor's Mansion
again then head N and in this hallway, enter the W door. Open the first drawer
on the right to get 'Time Traveling Hero' (you can equip these dolls to Anise
to change stats, critical rates, Anise learns new Artes, etc, and also change
how Tokunaga looks). Now exit the mansion and try going to the S area to
trigger a scene where Sync attacks Guy and marks him with something (I can't
tell you what it is, sorry). After the scene, you'll board the ferry.

"Why, if it isn't Dist the Runny." -- Jade Curtiss

After the scene, you'll have to fight 3 oracle Knights. Piece of cake. Now
exit your room and go N and up the stairs. Here, exit through the N exit and
watch a scene with a little robot called Barrelow X. We need to catch it. Read
the instructions and catch it (that was pathetic). If you catch Barrelow X,
you'll get 'Nobile' and 'Winged Boots' (which makes you move faster around
towns and dungeons). If you didn't catch it, reload and try again.

If you want, go save again. Anyway, proceed to the deck to trigger a scene and
then a Boss Battle.

- Strategy: Although he has 19,000 HP, it goes down in an eye blink. Deactivate
everything on Jade, except for Splash. Put Jade's Splash in a shortcut and make
him cast it over and over. Tear will be healing all the battle, so we don't
have to worry about that. Guy and Luke will physically attack Kaiser. Whenever
you can, use the FoF, especially Water FoF, so that Luke can use Frigid Blast,
dealing massive dmg.

After the battle, watch the scene. Afterwards, you'll reach Baticul.

"You're so strange. Look how pathetic you are.
I don't know what the maids see in you." -- Natalia L.K. Lanvaldear

After the initial scene between the party, General Goldberg and General
Cecille, go S and take the aircar to the main city. After the little scene, go
N to trigger another scene with the Dark Wings. When you regain control, go up
the stairs to the N in the middle and take the elevator to the E. Proceed up
the next set of stairs and go up another elevator to reach the castle and
Luke's Manor.

From this third level, go all the way N and enter the castle (Luke's Manor is
to the left). In here, go up the stairs to the N to trigger a scene. Now exit
the castle and go to Luke's Manor (at the W side of this area). After the
scene, enter the W room (Drawing Room) to meet Natalia, the princess of
Kimlasca. So exit through the N door and go N at the hallway to enter the room
of Luke's parents. Another scene triggers in here.

After the scene ends, go to the courtyard and talk to Pere twice. The first
mini scene will involve Jade, while the second time involves Guy. We now need
to look for a guy named Gee near the Zao Desert. Now go to the entrance to
trigger yet another scene between Luke, Guy and Tear. Now approach Ramdas and
the maids to trigger a scene. We also need to get back the 4 books that'll
teach Luke new artes. You also receive '20,000 Gald'. You can buy the book, or
you can just spend it in everything you want.

With that said and done, go to the N part of the docks to trigger a scene. Buy
the remaining text book from the merchant and you'll receive 'Arcana Albertis'
and Luke will learn Demon Fist (same as Senel's from Tales of Legendia),
similar to Demon Fang from previous games. Return to the manor and speak to
Pere, who is at the entrance. This is the first step of three to receive the
Jewel of Gardios (the weapon on the wall), which is a sword for Guy. Now go to
Luke's room and go to sleep.

When you regain control, we need to go to the castle. Go there to trigger a
scene with Mohs and Tear. So Luke was destined to go Akzeriuth, huh? Cool...
Luke receives the title "Ambassador". So, to get to where Van is, go to the
save point near the entrance and go W and into the door. In this hall, go all
the way W to enter the prison. Go down the stairs to trigger a scene with Van.
Seriously, Luke is so stupid!

Exit the castle to trigger another scene. Go to the elevator and go down to
the second level. Try going to the first level to trigger a scene where Anise
rejoins the group. Great, now Ion was abducted by the Dark Wings. Now go to the
first level to trigger a scene. You'll obtain 'Carmine Chamber' and 'Moon
Selector'. Now go and stay at the Inn, which is above the Coliseum and the
Shops. The next morning, you'll receive the recipe "Fried Rice". Nice.

Now on to the Abandoned Factory. The aircar is at the SE part of the first
level. So go there to trigger a scene. A young lady just went in there. Can you
guess who that was?

"Anybody else think I should rip daddy's little girl a new
hole?" -- Anise Tatlin

As you arrive, go E to trigger a scene. It was Natalia who came in recently.
At the end of the scene, Natalia joins the party. When you regain control, go
up the ladder to get 'Magic Lens'. Now return down the ladder and go down the
ladder in front of the one you just used. Move E down here and a chest will
fall to a lower lever. Return up the ladder and go all the way E (you'll pass a
ladder going up) to find a lone chest with 'Apple Gel'. Return to the ladder
you just passed and go up. Go up another ladder and then go S to find another
ladder.

Go down this ladder and go down the next one as well. Follow the path and at
the fork, there's a 'Feather Cloak' to the E. Return to the ladder, go up and
proceed to the next area.

After another funny scene, go down the ladder in front of you to get 'Orange
Gel' from a chest. Now go up the stairs, press the switch and board the lift.
At the top, there are two ladders, one going up and the other going down. Take
the ladder going up to get 'Scimitar'. Equip it to Luke or Guy if any of them
don't have it equipped. Return and take the ladder going down this time. you'll
reach a 4-way fork. Go S first to get 'Cobalt Chamber' (your very first, but
almost all of these Cobalt suck anyway). Return to the fork and go N this time
to find a ladder. Go up and light the barrel there with Mieu Fire, now press
the switch next to the barrel. Now proceed E to the next area.

There's an aircar next to you and S of the aircar is a ladder in the metallic
platform. Take it down and follow the path to find a chest. Approach it and the
pipe will break, but only halfway and will pour some oil. Anyway, get 'Apple
Gel' from the chest return upstairs and return to the previous room. Use the
lift S of you, walk a little bit and the pipe will break, creating a path. Go
down this path and enter the door to the E. In this next room, walk a little
bit to trigger a little scene which lets you know that you can set fire on
barrels with oil dripping in them. Anyway, lit the barrel and return to the
room with the aircar. Once here, press the switch and board the aircar.

On the other side, you'll find a machine that controls the flow of oil. Use it
so the oil starts going to the left. Use the aircar once more and go down the
ladder to the far E. Lit the barrel and return to where the machine that
controls the oil is. Change now the flow of oil to the right, proceed E and
press the switch. Save your game and you'll see a lift N of you. To the E is a
ladder going down. Take down the ladder to find a chest with '3,000 Gald'.
Return upstairs and enter the next area (to the N).

In here, lit the barrel at the corner and go down the ladder near the entrance
and cross all the way to the W, go up the ladder and get 'Life Bottle' from the
chest. Now go N a bit to find some oil dripping. Try setting it up on fire to
trigger a scene. Now go N, up the ladder and take that empty barrel to where
the oil is dripping. Return to where the lift is, take it upwards and enter the
next area.

Go down the ladder and at this fork, lower the ladder first, then go W to
knock the pipe down and fill the barrel. Now go to where the barrel is, lit it
up and return up the ladder. Now go N at the fork to get 'Panacea Bottle', then
go W, lower the mini ladder and go up the next one to find a healing Save
Point. Save your game, proceed W, press the switch and hop on the aircar to
trigger a scene and afterwards, a Boss Battle!

BOSS: ABADDON
-------------

- Name: Abaddon
- Location: Abandoned Factory
- HP: 22,000 / 33,000 / 44,000 / 77,000
- XP: 1,190
- P.ATK: 197 / 295 / 394 / 689
- P.DEF: 333 / 499 / 666 / 1,165
- F.ATK: 186 / 279 / 372 / 651
- F.DEF: 271 / 406 / 542 / 948
- Gald: 2,000
- Items dropped: Lavender
- Steal: None
- Elemental Info.:
- Weak: None
- Strong: None

- Strategy: This monster is nasty. Jade is very good here, using Splash all the
battle, because of Abaddon's lower F. DEF. Have Tear or Natalia cure during the
whole while Luke and Guy attack him physically. Abaddon's Negative Gale and
Jade's Splash will create several FoF. Use them well as they deal some extra
and pretty dmg. He also has an attack in which you takes out some little
spiders out of his ass to attack you, but these run in a straight line, and
Free Run is your friend here. There may be a few casualties, but nothing that a
Life Bottle can't handle, eh?

-------------

After the battle, watch the scene exit the abandoned factory to trigger an
animated cutscene. Pretty nice.

=~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~=

Anyway, at the World Map, start going E towards the desert and when you
finally get to it, enter the Desert Oasis, which is in middle of the desert,
and trust me, you will find it, since it has trees and all stuff sticking out
of it.

"You really like to be a jerk, don't you?" -- Luke fon Fabre

After the initial scene, you're told to go to the Zao Ruins, so that's our
next destination. Now talk to the woman dressed in brown next to the well and
pay her 100 Gald to have a little sip from it (it's just like an Inn). Remember
Gee? The guy Pere told you to talk to? Well he's in the Grocery.

Enter the Grocery (the N building, actually it's the only building) and speak
to him. He's the upper-left guy dressed in white and orange. Afterwards, we
need to find someone in Kaitzur. Dammit. You need to go to the Zao Ruins now,
but you could go to Chesedonia, which is to the NW and getting scolded by
Anise, but who cares.

You can buy some Steel Swords for Luke and Guy, a Gothic Mace for Tear and
maybe another one for Anise, a Scythe for Jade and a Steel Bow for Natalia. You
may also stop at Din's place to give her all the stuff you've gotten from
enemies and SP. Anyway, after all this, the Zao Ruins are directly E from the
Desert Oasis. See ya there!

"Mieuuuuuu. I can feel the power!... Well, a little. Kind of. I think." -- Mieu

After the initial mini scene, proceed forward to trigger a scene. After it,
enter the ruins. Inside, start going down the long spiral path towards the
bottom and once you reach it, get 'Apple Gel' from the chest in middle of the
room. Now go S from the chest to get to another area.

At the fork here, follow the path S until you see a cluster of the Second
Fonon (Earth). Mieu learns Mieu Attack. Pretty useful. Return to the fork and
go W this time. At the next area, follow the path and you'll find some boulders
blocking the path. Before going down where the boulders are, go to the path to
the SE to find a chest with '2,400 Gald' in it.

Now break the boulders to trigger a scene. Luke and Natalia are alike, huh? At
the other side of the boulders, break another set of boulders S of you to find
a chest with 'Breast Guard' in it. Equip to Tear or Natalia and now follow the
path E across the bridge and at the open area, break the boulders at the E side
to find a chest with 'Orange Gel' in it. Now save your game and proceed N to
another area.

Follow the path and get 'Panacea Bottle' from the chest. Keep going and some
debris falls in front of a chest. Use Mieu Attack here and get 'Stre Forte'
(pretty nice P. ATK bonus), now keep going until you get to another area.
Follow the path and when you get to a fork, go W to find a chest (it's pretty
hard to notice) with 'Life Bottle' in it.

Return to the fork and go E this time and when you come to another fork (which
is right at the bottom of the stairs), break your way N to find a chest with
'Carmine Chamber' in it. Keep going down the path and when you get to another
fork, to the N behind some debris is 'Cobalt Chamber' in a chest. Now simply
follow the path S until you get to a healing Save Point.

Save your game and proceed further in to see Asch, Sync and Largo doing
something to Ion. After the scene, you'll have to fight Sync and Largo.

----------------
BOSS: SYNC/LARGO
----------------

a) Sync
- Location: Zao Ruins
- HP: 13,000 / 19,500 / 26,000 / 45,500
- P.ATK: 210 / 315 / 420 / 735
- P.DEF: 222 / 333 / 444 / 777
- F.ATK: 154 / 231 / 308 / 539
- F.DEF: 150 / 225 / 300 / 525
- Steal: None
- Elemental Info.:
- Weak: None
- Strong: None

b) Largo
- Location: Zao Ruins
- HP: 17,000 / 25,500 / 34,000 / 59,500
- P.ATK: 265 / 397 / 530 / 927
- P.DEF: 210 / 315 / 420 / 735
- F.ATK: 161 / 241 / 322 / 563
- F.DEF: 100 / 150 / 200 / 350
- Steal: None
- Elemental Info.:
- Weak: None
- Strong: None

- Strategy: Ok, go after Sync first, because he's the quick (and I mean QUICK)
and has the lowest HP. Beware of his Arcane Arte, Stone Dragon Ascent. Before
you even know it, he'll be gone. As for Largo, he is a stronger fellow, and
with his Arcane Arte, Raving Thunder, it deals 500+ dmg. Have Tear heal all the
time, while Jade is casting during the whole battle. Use any FoF that appear on
battle, specially use this because Sync's Artes Thunder Blade and Turbulence
will create several FoF. Luke and Guy will be good distraction for Sync and
Largo, while Jade and Tear are casting.

You'll receive 1,600 XP, 2,400 Gald and, Grass Chamber, Verbana and Garnet.

----------------

Watch the scene at the end of the battle. When you regain control, you should
see some particles coming out of the Save Point. These Save Points are to
return to the entrance of the dungeon, but only using a Wing Bottle. Anyway,
approach it to trigger a scene. You'll obtain 'Wing Bottle' and use the Escape-
route to exit Zao Ruins. Another scene triggers as you exit. Whatever... just
head to Chesedonia.

"Oh, I'm sorry. It's up to Luke to decide, isn't it?" -- Jade Curtiss

After the initial scene, proceed a little bit further to trigger yet another
scene in which Luke has another headache and then he just passes out. Anyway,
when you regain control, remember where the Ant Lion Man was? Go to where he is
and give him a Scimitar and a Magic Lens to receive an 'Orange Gel'. What a
punk! But you need to do it to a future something.

Anyway, restock your item supply and buy any upgrades you need or can afford.
Now, the Malkuth Consulate is the building next to Din's Shop (to the right),
so go there, enter the door in front of you and at the end, speak to the person
there to trigger a scene where Sync is doing something to Guy (I hate that
little bastard). Anyway, you'll board a ferry to Kaitzur Naval Port.

Once you arrive, exit Kaitzur Naval Port and head to Kaitzur, which is to the
far N. Once here, go to the N area (on the Malkuth side) and speak to the guy
next to the Inn, which is the Artes Council Gee told you to look for. After the
scene, Guy learns "Tempest". Nice. This is step number 3, there's only 4 more.
Now, if you haven't taken care of the Sword Dancer #1, now's your last chance
in doing so.

Remember where he is? He's at Choral Castle. Once the events at Akzeriuth are
done, Sword Dancer #1 is going to be gone forever, so think about it... anyway,
to reach Deo Pass from Kaitzur, simply leave through the S exit (Kimlasca side)
and follow the dirt path until you reach a fork, which you should take SE until
you reach Deo Pass.
