Shiny Rate in FS

Has anyone found any truth to this? I've spent hours upon hours in various friend safari's using all sorts of methods rumored to work and have had no luck whatsoever.

Never tried though I would think it's more likely given that you're guaranteed to only have three choices. Does the shiny charm affect this though?

I haven't the slightest clue. I've just heard lots of reports of shinies being found (assuming w/o the charm), and have seen multiple videos of it. It's a bummer, considering how much time I've spent in them.
