Up to 1900PC Prize Pool!
+ Other Pokemon/perks given from @MrMcgee1311
Hey all! Despite the unfortunate failure of the last PBL, we are back again to try to bring another draft format tournament to PerfectPokemon!
However, after the events of last time, rules (particularly rules regarding times of matches) will be enforced much more heavily than they were last time to ensure that the entire process continues to run smoothly.
The draft format will be done with Smogon tiers, not PerfectPokemon - as we are currently trialing a system to switch to Smogon tiers for the remainder of Generation 6 before Sun and Moon release - with one exceptions:
- Mega Metagross, due to its extreme power in the UCL season (similar draft league on YouTube, as well as the GBA, will be banned).
- (The rest of the Smogon OU format can be found here: http://www.smogon.com/dex/xy/formats/ou/ ). All banned Pokemon can be found in the ‘Ubers’ tab, banned items and abilities are specifically listed on the given webpage, and we will abide by Smogon OU Clauses for battling.
Pokemon draft formats are quite different to, say, a standard OU match. In the PBL, players draft 3 Pokemon from OU, UU, RU and NU (and below, all included in one tier) respectively. The order for all players is randomised and players then pick in a snake-style format. This means that the person selected first chooses first, then all players pick until we reach player 16. At this point, player 16 chooses again and we go back up the order, and finally back down again so that everyone gets 3 Pokemon. The order is randomised again for each tier so that people hopefully aren’t screwed over for every tier if they get one or two bad placings in the order. As for the rules on drafting Pokemon, here they are!
- Once a Pokemon has been drafted, it can not be drafted by another player. This does not include alternate forms (e.g. if Rotom-W has been drafted, Rotom-H can still be drafted), however, if a Pokemon has been drafted such as Heracross which is intended to be one team’s mega, another team may not draft the base form of Heracross. Alternate mega forms are also not permitted to be drafted by another team (only counts for Charizard. If one team drafts Charizard in OU with the intent of having Mega Charizard X, another team may not draft Charizard with the intent of having Mega Charizard Y).
- Each team drafts 12 Pokemon in total, with a maximum of 1 Mega Evolution.
- Mega Pokemon must be drafted in the tier that the mega is in for it to be legitimate (e.g. if you wish to draft Mega Lopunny, you must draft Lopunny in OU). This also counts for abilities. For example, if you wish to use Drizzle + Swift Swim, the Pokemon with Drizzle (the weather setting ability) must be drafted in OU.
- BL Pokemon are counted under OU, BL2 Pokemon are counted under UU, BL3 Pokemon are counted under RU and any tier below NU (PU, NFE, LC Uber and LC) are all counted as part of NU.
- Every team in the PBL (maximum of 16) will compete against each other over a 15 week period. At the start of the week (around 6AM EST Sunday) schedules will be posted stating which team needs to play which and you will have until the following Sunday (also 6AM EST) to complete your matches. All match results should be reported to @Matt_192 .
- Failure to complete the match within one week will be immediately make the outcome of the battle subject to mine and @Cheza ‘s decision. If one player has made an attempt to contact the other but the other player has either not been online or ignored the messages then the first player will win the match. If neither player has attempted to contact one another then both players will be given a loss - if there is a logistics issue between two players who are supposed to be battling, IM me or @Cheza in advance of the end of the week so that we can sort out the issue. Apologies for the harsher rules, but they need to be tightened down.
- All matches will happen over wifi in-game and will be done at level 50. However, we do not mind if you decide to gen, breed, use powersaves or any other means to obtain your Pokemon as long as they are legal and can be used online. Matches on Showdown are not permitted - this is an ORAS battling league.
- Firstly, we have the trading system. After week 2 has ended, each team is allowed to trade one Pokemon with a Pokemon in another team (in the same tier). However, only one trade is permitted each week. Mega Pokemon are also not permitted to be traded away unless the two teams are trading Mega Pokemon. No more trading is permitted after week 13.
- Secondly, we have the redraft rule! At any point during the PBL, each team is permitted one redraft. This means that each player is allowed to drop one Pokemon from their roster and redraft another Pokemon that hasn’t been chosen from the same tier! However, this can only be used once throughout the entirety of the PBL.
After the 15 weeks of battling has finished, the top 4 players will be taken and seeded into a single elimination bracket. 1st will play 4th, 2nd will play 3rd, and the winner of both will compete for 1st place! These matches will also happen over 2 final weeks.
I will update this thread with dates and times as we work them out, but until then, please consider signing up!
