Why I Like Serperior

Base stats 75/75/95/75/95/113

Serperior
Held Item: Focus Sash
Ability: Contrary
Nature: Timid

EVs: 4 HP, 252 Sp Atk, and 252 Speed

Viable moves:

Giga Drain
Leaf Strom
Hidden Power (rock)
Hidden Power (fire)
Protect
Mirror Coat
Dragon Pulse
Solar Beam (on sun teams)

This Pokemon is AMAZING in singles if you did not already know that. This thing hits fast and hard with its recently released ability Contrary. Pair that ability with Leaf Storm and nearly anything is possible. Run this on a team that tries to paralyze your opponents because noivern and greninja still wreck this poor little sweeper. But with the out speed and only four boosts to Special Attack your fine to use giga drain to heal lost health or make your focus sash useful again because believe it or not Serperior can usually take a few non boosted, fully EV trained, neutral hits and not activate his focus sash.

Please tell me what you think and if you have any suggestions for this build for I will try to post one of these "Why I Like" threads every two days (so if you find me annoying this is bad news cause I'm staying). Thanks for the criticism and suggestions for this week.

focus sash really isnt a good build. He is easy to outspeed and priority moves are a thing.

thanks for the information.
I have yet to run into the problem that you stated but I do see the problem...I still see that Focus sash is one of the better items on serperior though not the best

You won't need focus sash for almost anything because serperiors natural bulk is already high enough. I would run a choice scarf instead.

I've tried that and I thought it was pretty good. I just switched protect for dragon pulse but I still just ended up liking the focus sash better. Though I might have to give choice scarf another go.

Really depends on how you use it. You could try a set with a modest contrary serperior with 252HP/252SPAttack/4Defence

serperior is one of those pokemon that can sweep whole teams, but only if it lands those leaf storms. Thats why I run wide lens serperior. Along with its amazing ability, it was a fantastic speed stat. Some of the common threats that you have to get rid of before sweeping are starmie and weavile.

Both of them can hardy switch in , esp Starmie. I think pokes with 4x resist Grass like Heatran are more of a threat to Starmie
