My favourite theory thus far starts off by introducing the possibility of Professor Kukui's Assistant Lillie, Team Skull Enforcer Gladion, and Aether Foundation President Lusamine all being related. The relationship between these characters is noticeable in both their similar appearances, all having light blonde hair and green eyes, and in the meanings of their names. To start, lily (Lillie) refers to the flower of purity and innocence, while the gladiolus flower (Gladion) is also called the sword lily, and Lusamine can be stretched to mean light and healthy, something which can define the flower lilies. I would personally disagree to where the theory connects Lusamine as being the mother of the two, given her youthful appearance, it's more likely she would be an older sibling.

Of course, Lusamine is the president of the Aether Foundation, the meaning of Aether given being "The composition of heavenly bodies. That is things beyond our earth." (x) And "Aether is often considered pure and divine, as some sort of perfect substance which could be used to create perfect items, heal people, and even provide the secret to eternal life." (x) This could mean that the Aether Foundation is searching for something beyond our world, and further hinted at by Lusamine's description "Even Pokémon from distant worlds, far from the Alola region, are worthy of my love." (x) This makes it sound as though Lusamine is more obsessed with collecting every Pokémon, rather than trying to help Pokémon, to the point of searching beyond our world.

This beginnings the origin of Ultra Beasts, Pokémon speculated to have come from the ethereal plane. And in order to access this plane requires the ability to create portals. The ability to create portals having been achieved before in Pokémon, through "infinite energy", the material used to power AZ's weapon of destruction in XY games, and is created by the life force of thousands of Pokémon. And the Aether Foundation, being the sanctuary for Pokémon, has plenty of access to Pokémon "The Aether Foundation has constructed an artificial island called Aether Paradise. There, they not only provide shelter for Pokémon, but also conduct various research projects." (x)

This theory also speculates that Lillie is hiding a Zygarde Core in her bag, and is preventing Lusamine from creating Zygarde. But yesterdays trailer revealed Cosmog as the Pokemon Lillie is hiding in her bag. This makes more sense, with the description of Cosmog being "This extremely rare Pokémon is known to only a select few in Alola. At one time, it was known only by the kings of Alola and their heirs, and it was called “the child of the stars.” The Aether Foundation is researching this unusual Pokémon, and one of the professors at the foundation recently dubbed it Cosmog." (x) The purpose of Cosmog being its importance to the legendary beasts Solgaleo, and Lunala, which this theory doesn't fully cover. Both of these Pokemon are described to hon great amounts of energy "It is referred to with reverence as “the beast that devours the sun.” Solgaleo's body holds a vast amount of energy, and it shines with light when it's active" (x), "It is referred to with reverence as “the beast that calls the moon.” Lunala is constantly absorbing light and converting it into energy." (x), and trailers show these Pokemon accessing portals (x).

This could mean that the Aether Foundation, and Team Skull are fighting over the legendary beasts for different reasons. With Team Skull wanting to become more powerful, and the Aether Foundation wanting to harness the power of controlling transdimensional portals to catch Ultra Beasts. There is much more to this theory, including the encounter with Ultra Beasts, the form of UB-01, and Gladion having Type: Null. But I urge you to watch and like the content if you enjoyed this theory too!
