Hey Guys!
So I've been here less than a month now and I think it's about time I introduced myself to the comment! I'm Mango, Im from New York (wooh! big apple!), and I've been playing pokemon since the release of Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen, however, I had never gotten into competitive battling until 2010. I guess what made me interested in competitive battling was a fit of vengeance. I clearly remember before taking any interest in competitive pokemon, I went around boasting about my skill, and prowess in battle to all of my classmates who also shared my love for the game. Unfortunately for me at the time, one of these classmates played pokemon competitively, and he publicly challenged me to a match. I was beaten. I never even took out a single one of his pokemon. I remember the "ace" of my team was my feraligatr with the move set: Surf, slash, crunch, and blizzard. That was the turning point for me. After that loss pokemon became one of the primary concerns in my life (kind of sad I know), I absorbed youtube video after youtube video, and even swallow my pride enough to have the kid who beat me teach me a thing or two. Thats where my motivation came from, and eventually I obtained enough knowledge to beat the classmate who had thumped me so easily.
The tier I chose to devote myself to was VGCs or Video Game Championships. For those who don't know the battle style, it's doubles flat, (bing 6 choose 4). Since I began playing this tier I've made several appearances at local and regional tournaments, barely missing top cut each time. I guess what usually got me into trouble when battling is the fact that I like to use pokemon that I personally like, which tend be medicare or outclassed (such as Kingler, one of my favorites).
Finding Perfect Pokemon has been the highlight of my summer. As I prepare for the next VGC season, I realize I've found the perfect place to get all of my Pokemon, as well as a friendly and supportive community to maintain my interest and motivation. I find myself here everyday actually, and not just to conduct business, but just for the chats and forums, because there are very few people in my life now that have a serous interest in Pokemon. I'm still looking forward to personally introduce myself to all of you in the coming weeks, and earning my place as a respected member of Perfect Pokemon. Hope I shined a bit of light on myself, as a player and a person! Thanks for reading!
