GYMS are now OPEN
How It Works:
- Each gym leader has his/her own sticky post in this forum. Challenge a gym by replying to the gym leader's thread.
- After a defeat or victory, a gym leader will update a his/her challengers or winners list.
- Victors are awarded their badge 1-3 days after defeating a gym leader
- Your badges show up under your avatar
- If defeated by a gym, you must wait at least 3 days to challenge that leader again for a badge
- Some Pokemon are not allowed in the PokeGym Challenge: More Info Here

To Become A Gym Leader:
All Gym leader positions listed here

- You must defeat the current gym leader 2/3 battles using the appropriate monotype team. (E.g: to become the fighting gym leader, you must defeat the current gym leader, two out of three times, using fighting Pokemon.)
- You are not permitted to switch or edit your team between 2/3 battles for leadership of a gym (this goes for both the challenger and the defending gym leader.)
- If you are the only applicant to a leaderless gym, you will be assigned leader.
- Apply Here

While You Are A Gym Leader:
- If challenges exist (for the gym leader position) then the current gym leader has to accept, at least 1 challenge every 7 days (or forfeit his/her position as gym leader)
- If challenges exist for badges, then the current gym leader has to accept at least 1 badge challenge every 3 days. (or forfeit his/her position as gym leader, unless the gym leader explicitly states that he will be unavailable for a certain period of time)
- Gym leaders cannot become champion.
- Gym leaders MUST update their challengers/winners after each battle

Rules *Update*
- Gym leaders are allowed use of 1 uber Pokemon or 1 uber item on their team
- Gym leaders must follow the appropriate Monotype clause ( 6 Pokémon with the same type. Dual typing is allowed, but they must all share a common type)
- Challengers, including challenges to become gym leader, are not allowed the uber perk, and must adhere to the tier list
- Arceus isn't allowed to anyone but the normal and rock gym leader (the rock gym is required to hold the stone plate.)
- Badges will not be awarded without formal challenges. Formal challenges can only be issued in the Gym leader's Gym thread (not home page shoutbox).
- The fire gym is allowed to use primal Groudon.
- Both Gym leaders and challengers must adhere to the following:
Sleep Clause (you may not put two of your opponent's Pokémon to sleep)
Dupe Clause (no more than 1 of the same Pokemon per team)
Counter Clause (gym leaders are allowed to ban 1 Pokemon from their gym)
- Battles can take place on showdown only if BOTH PARTIES agree to it.
- Gym leaders cannot use showdown as their ONLY means of battling. Meaning you must have a wifi team ready in case a challenger doesn't use showdown
- Battle format One on One 6v6

Could I use a protean greninja on my ice team? Because like, lance used charizard and aerodactyl...

Can you get a sweet badge without having to be a gym leader? I want to be one but I don't have enought time with all of my classes

You get badges for beating gym leaders. Not being one

Whats the ruling on counterteaming? Does the challenger need to use the same team for all of the gyms so he cant just bring for example 3 Ice Types and 3 Fairy Types to the Dragon gym?

The challenger can bring whatever team he chooses, unless he plans to take over the gym, then he must bring a monotype team of the gym they want to take over.

While allowed, bringing a team like that means you're a massive dingdong. :)

I had words explaining why, but I couldn't convey my meaning correctly. So let's stick with "you're a dingdong" if you do that for every gym. :)

lol counter teams are annoying and less fun xD
If this were a real pokemon game you wouldn't have a counter team for each gym! lols

It would be better t just bring the pokemon you really like and win with them.
Even if you lose at least it was with your favs, you can always just challenge the gym again.

I'm pretty sure any gym leader would be more likely to re challenge a person who brought a cool fair team then someone who's a dingdong :D (wow I sound like some old wise cheesy nerd) :S
