Similar to mega stones, it looks like Z-Moves will only be activated if your Pokémon is holding the correct item to trigger it. With specific Pokémon having their own Z-Moves. When Snorlax is holding the Snorlium Z, they'll be able to use Pulverizing Pancake. A special pre-order Munchlax will also be distributed, possibly holding the Snorlium Z? Lastly, an Alolan form Rattata was revealed to be Dark/Normal type, with the abilities Gluttony, and Hustle.

The Z moves look a bit gimmicky but I still want that Munchlax - now I just need to choose between Sun or Moon
