A way to stop these Spamming accounts

Hi all, I've only been on this site for a couple of days now, and it has come to my attention that it's very common for bots to just come onto this site, make a new account and start spamming on the website, I think it would be a suitable comment to make that the website needs a way to stop the bots from coming in, simply because it is a nuisance that the moderators don't need to put up with, I suggest adding a Captcha to the user creation stage, so that any of these bots won't be able to make it into the website, it's just an idea I've come up with considering I've already reported about 12 different bot accounts.

i alrdy talked to doulie myself the captcha box is alrdy on according to him issue is actual people will make the account and just assign a bot to it not too much u can do about it

Ok, how about making it so you also add a Capatcha to the create a new thread stage

I don't see why it is, make it so there's a capatcha right after you click create a thread, then you add the details after the capatcha has been verified

cause there are tons of lazy people like me who would never make a thread that requires extra unneeded work.... plus there have been issues with bandwith or something adding allot of info at onc could be problematic for the site

Ok, I understand that there are lazy people on the site, but on the most part I think most people are fine with having to verify a capatcha to post a thread so bots can't spam on the website and cause a nuisance

You were still fighting against the idea of putting a Capatcha into the stages of creating a thread, simply based on the fact that you are lazy, Capatcha are used everywhere on the internet, I don't see why it is such a problem to add them here, it's a simple solution to rid some nuisance of the website, honestly I don't think adding a capatcha will cause bandwidth issues considering there is a live chat and there are thousands of images being streamed on the website at once

No need to get off topic, having to fill it in the first three times sounds like a fine idea like seb said, I don't think it's that great of an inconvenience and I think the potential benefits outweigh the time it takes to type those characters personally

I think that sounds like a reasonable compromise, I would think that about 10 times would be a safe number, some people might think otherwise, but in the end it all comes down to what Doulie want's on his website

I have a better idea. Make it so in order to create a thread you must have mod approval for your first 10 posts.

that wouldn't work, bots would just post anyway, unless you mean the thread wouldn't post unless a mod or admin checks the post and approves it, then it will be released as a new thread, that isn't a half bad idea but requires a mod or admin to be online
